I had my new G17 and P226 do this... Takes a pretty big slam on the mag but it can happen...

My XD9 has started doing this. I don't recall it happening before, but maybe I've just been eating wheaties or something. I proabably have a few thousnd rounds through it.

My SR9C after maybe 4k rounds doesn't do it.

All my pistols do it because they're HSLD.

It's common on Glocks and M&Ps. I freaking HATE it, though.

I've had my SR9 since Dec. 08 and now have over 6000 rounds through it and can remember only twice the slide going forward when slamming in a loaded mag. On the SRs its a slide stop only and not a slide release according to the manual. The gun you used sounds like it needs a new slide stop and the slide checked for wear at the slide stop notch.

Interesting. The slide stop worked like all of the other slide stop/slide releases I've used before.

my wifes has also done this since the day she got it... however it is not by design.. if it was it would do it EVERY time.... it does not... s&w does not qualify it as part of the design either...

I tried this on all my semi-autos and I can't get the slide to drop by slamming a loaded magazine (Glock, CZ, Hi-Power, 1911's, Sigs, 92FS, Baby Eagle, XD) But then again I don't use my slide stop as a slide release.

It happens about 50% of the time on my XD Service 40. I have around 30k rounds through the gun since 2005. It is a great thing to have happen when competing-yes it is also better if I don't go to slide lock, but I am not good enough to avoid that yet. My original mags do this as well, and all 6 of the mags I use will lock the slide back.

I can feel the slide lock open when I run out of ammo, it is an automatic thing to feel that and drop the mag as I reach for another. Now if only the second part would be that smooth. I also use the slide stop as a slide release and my slide stop lever is a pistol gear brand extended unit. The original slide stop let loose with a mag shoved home as well.

I just tried it with my new Springfield Armory 1911 Loaded model. It didn't do it at all until I gave it a he-man slam and then it released on me. I've only got a total of exactly 600 rounds down range with it and a bit of home practicing of racking the slide.

Yup, I was about to say the same. 100% of the time on both the sig and the hk. Seems like a design feature to me. What else do you plan on doing when inserting a loaded mag? Leave the slide back until needed and then let the slide forward?
