Slamming Mags!

It is normal, but it also requires due dilegence on your part.

This is just another reason why you should never let your finger rest in or near the trigger well when reloading your magazines. Seen NDs happen because the jerking action caused by the slide moving forward when not expected to caused the shooter's finger to slip into the trigger well and pull the trigger. Their finger was out of the trigger well at the start, but bent and touching the front trigger guard instead of being high and on the slide where it is supposed to be.

People roll their eyes at me all the time when I strongly advise them to keep their trigger finger high up and straight on the slide instead of bent and on the trigger guard. They think I am paranoid. But anybody who has felt the slide rush forward unexpectadly knows just how easily that could lead to an ND if their finger is anywhere remotely near the trigger well. NDs are fairly rare (thankfully) and I've seen this cause more than one of them. So it's no joke. Exercise proper gun handling techniques to ensure your safety and the safety of those around.

Yup, I was about to say the same. 100% of the time on both the sig and the hk. Seems like a design feature to me. What else do you plan on doing when inserting a loaded mag? Leave the slide back until needed and then let the slide forward?

Yeah I personally like that it does it, because it eliminates the step of manually releasing the slide. If I want the slide to stay open I just slowly put in the loaded mag.
Also, the slide does not release on slamming an empty magazine into the gun... no matter how hard I slam it.

Agreed -- who would want their slide to stay locked back after the insertion of a loaded mag? Makes no sense. It's a free tenth of a second - I'll gladly take it. Happens 100% of the time on my XDm 5.25", ever since it was new, unless I screw up the reload in some way.
