Congratulations on your discovery. Some people don't like the grip but its just something you have to practice with and get used to.

Join the GSSF and you will get a new glock once a year at a discount. If you think you like them now just wait when you pay $425 (excluding tax and fees) for a brand new G17.

Grip angle/shape is everything and has to do w/your bones/DNA.

Trying to fight that is like wearing shoes that don't fit.

If you are TOTAL newbie maybe have the guy at gun shop make sure you got your hands in more or less right place and aren't "choking up" or something weird.

Glock works for me, XD all wrong, 1911 pretty good.

Glock haters are just those that can't shoot or are casual shooters. Once you get used to the grip angle, and the Glock haters, their stupid reliability and accuracy will keep you shooting them for a long time.

                    Glocks

Have a newfound love for Glocks also!! Prefer the babies over the full or medium sized as they can be a little ugly!! Grip angle fills my manhands just right!! Simple and reliable as all hell!! I can shoot like Mel Gibson in the Lethal Weapon movies with my trusty G26 baby!! Love all the aftermarket accessories available for them!! Really customizable guns!! Superfun, you can't go wrong!!

Ya know, I've been in this game a looooog time---I prefer the grip angle of the HK/1911/P35 etc.---that said I don't own any Glocks, but I don't hate 'em---I've found over the years that Glocks generally work---that is function all the time---this is GOOD. I go out shooting with many folks---a lot of them shoot Glock pistols---my regular shooting buddy has a Glock 21 45 ACP---I always manage to out-shoot him with his own gun (much to his disgust!). I still don't like the grip angle or the fat feel (he has a Houge slip-on sleeve on his), but once you bear-down on the sights, it works and shoots very well. No I am not going to sell my HKs or other guns, but I don' hate Glocks!

Anyone can get used to the grip angle, I just don't like how the grip feels "blocky"

I think for someone that has never had to use a pistol for self defence, the glock would be a good choice.
They could stick their arm out fully, with their shooting hand pointed a little downwards, even being scared sh@tless would be able to protect themself.

I had more than 8 1911s in 1987 when I wandered into Saddleback Valley Guns and held my first GLOCK 17. The 1911 was king, Jeff Cooper was on high and I had several custom 1911s from Jim Hoag and Kings gun works. Loved them. Still have 5 of them. I will always have a 1911.

But that Generation 1 Glock 17 really intrigued me. I wasn't a big fan of 9, had a couple of SW model 39s before and a really nice Browning Hi Power. (still have the Hi-Power)...but that 17 just ran and ran and ran. No matter what I fed it it kept running 100%. Bought another one. Later in 92 ish Glock got smart and decided to build the G21 and G20....dang...more money to spend....got a couple of each. Still have the Gen 2 G21. Sold the G20 because back then I didn't reload 10MM. Later got a couple of Glock 23s...

It still goes on. I never thought that Glock would replace the 1911 and really, if you have a Glock and a 1911 you own the two best handguns in the world.

                          Welcome to Glocks.

Yeah..I reload 10 and 40 now. (and .45 on another machine) and own 20 Glocks plus or minus one or two depending. Big fan of .45 and 10MM on a Glock platform these days.

the grip angle has never been a problem for me and I'm a regular sig shooter, I do still not love the trigger, but I just need to pony up and buy a ghost.

To the Glocks are like Hondas guy, you are correct, Honda is one of the most prolific race teams of all times and world renowned for reliability. Everywhere I look instructors use Glock or 1911s, go figure. If you can get a gen 4 in the Sacramento area you can get one anywhere(Sacramento Black Rifle). I will never carry a weapon with a thumb safety, my safety is between my ears and rule#3 for anyone who knows what that is...

Recurring theme: Hate Glocks, try Glock, love Glocks.

The only guns I can hate is one that I've shot.
