Discovered I Like Glocks!

Big fan of glocks, but not a fan of it not having a safety. Refuse to buy one cause I have kids.

Consider that a double action revolver doesn't have an external safety either. Pull the trigger and bang.

I have/had 5 kids (one left at home) and they all grew up with Glocks, 1911s, other handguns, rifles, shotguns, Assault weapons of every brand including a reloading room chock full of gun stuff and not a single problem with safety or danger.

Teach them well and assume personal responibility for the safety of your family. (Gun safes and trigger locks might work for you)



My 15 year old daughter has a Glock 19 in her room. I built it for her and she has been storing it in her room since she was 13. Not a big deal these days.

She can field strip it, clean it, assemble is and get it ready for action if needed.

She has been trained and has fired over 3000 rounds with dad.....she also helps out reloading if I beg her...hahaha



The only problem is she sometimes shoots fish in our Swimming Pool....
Really likes those 10-8 sights with the brass bead.



All our Children deserve a complete Gun Education and training. It's a weird world already, let's give our kids the tools to survive if needed folks......JMO.

But that Generation 1 Glock 17 really intrigued me. I wasn't a big fan of 9, had a couple of SW model 39s before and a really nice Browning Hi Power. (still have the Hi-Power)...but that 17 just ran and ran and ran. No matter what I fed it it kept running 100%. Bought another one. Later in 92 ish Glock got smart and decided to build the G21 and G20....dang...more money to spend....got a couple of each. Still have the Gen 2 G21. Sold the G20 because back then I didn't reload 10MM. Later got a couple of Glock 23s...

Yeah well, I know you have at least one S&W wheelgun. I saw it photobomb your Glock collection once. Kinda like the tub of Astroglide on the nightstand.

I think for someone that has never had to use a pistol for self defence, the glock would be a good choice.
They could stick their arm out fully, with their shooting hand pointed a little downwards, even being scared sh@tless would be able to protect themself.

haha seems like alot of people these days are professing their new found love for glock. i think alot of people against glock dont really shoot glocks often enough to find how excellent they are. i had a friend who knew nothing about guns but owned a 9mm tell me how he would never buy a glock. he didnt even know what kind of gun he owned, he only knew it was a 9mm and the navy uses it (it was a p226). one day he tells me he went to the range and shot a glock 30 and was amazed on how accurate and soft the recoil was. everybody loves glocks, some admit it, some dont.

Everyday when I pick up my new Glock 19, It tends to grow on me each time.


I've recently applied strips of grip tape in certain areas like Finger Grooves, Thumb Groove, and two on the outside of both Slide serrations. Made a huge difference for me.

Thereis a good reaon why Glock is 65% or better for all our law enforcement in the USA, some follks just have a hard time with reality.

I have to say for me personally the Gen 4's where a HUGE improvement in both fit without a Gen 3 backstrap and the function of the texture. IMO it's just about as perfect as it gets.

FWIW last time at the range I asked my 9 year old son if he wanted to shoot my 9mm (SIG) So we spent some time going over basic operation, function etc. including dry fire practice. My son is bigger than most the kids in his class and could only shoot the Sig in SA, could not pull the trigger in DA. Just because I asked him to try the Glock as its my go to gun and he could not fire it either. After talking with some people I have found several adults that cant break a stock trigger on a Glock.

Not trying to condone any unsafe practices just wouldn't let the lack of a physical safety be the determining factor in a handgun purchase

Glocks are the epitome of Function over Fashion. Once you realize the beauty of function, the Glock will become a "sexy" pistol to you.
