What good is an unloaded gun when you need it to go *bang*?

even though i've got a rottweiler and house alarm (whichever goes off first)...it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it!

I keep a .357 revolver and two speed loaders with mean hollow point ammo in the night stand.
Downstairs, Glock 19 hidden in a kitchen cabinet. At the office Beretta .40. With those last two, magazines are sitting next to the guns.
I'm doing my part, come and get me bad people.

I don't. But that's only because I live in Irvine. I should, especially now that I have several handguns and I do plan on getting a small safe for it. But as of this moment, no, I do not have a bedside gun.

I voted mag in unchambered because of my little boys. They aren't strong enough to rack the slide yet. I wen't from a revolver to an auto just for this reason. You know what they say, "Boys will be boys".

That, my friend, is a VERY good reason. Be sure to teach them the "rules" before they learn something else.

I practiced handgun safe handling with my first daughter at age 4 with an airsoft pistol. No, I didn't want her to feel "comfortable" to use a gun without me there. Just wanted her to understand muzzle integrity and why that she must not touch them without daddy around. Tell a kid "NO!!" and they will do it when your not around or aware.

My nieghborhood is good but so were the ones charles manson chose.

To all you that keep your firearm in a safe. Get real. A gun in the safe is not a form of home protection. If you can't get to it quickly while under duress, YOU ARE F*CK*D. Simple as that.

Also the same for the magazine not in the gun, fumble, stumble, not gonna help you.

ready to go next to me....but that is gonna change. I got a 4 month old now and i will get a nightstand safe. It is like everything else if you don't practice you wont get any better.

Benelli M3 with 10+1 00 Buck round in chamber, safety off. Leaning in corner 18 inches from my pillow. Beretta 92 15+1 Hydrashoks safety off under pillow. Mforgery in closet with 10+1 RBCD performance plus, safety off, EOTech and Surefire light mounted. The first thing you hear will be the rounds impacting your chest. I'm not racking a slide, I'm not flipping a safety, you get no warning.

Two girls, 7 & 9, oldest shoots the M4rgery when we go to the range(Another good reason for a collapsing stock). Both have their own .22's. Guns are not toys and they are not a mystery to them. They also know there is nothing that will get them in more trouble than touching a gun when Mom or Dad aren't there. They have shot pistols and shotguns, they can make the weapons fire if Dad or Mom are unable to.

Decent town but you never need it until you NEED it.
