Why would anyone need a glock???? If we took all the blocks out the world what would happen? uhmm nothing. Glocks are what they are today because of solid marketing and fanboys who swear there soul on them. Thats it, Ask someone if the know what a glock is 95% will say yes. Now ask someone what a hipower is 95% will say no. You see something wrong with that? Its that damn call of duty lol.

Yes we do. It is important to remember that this thread started with a fakeout, and has been rather mild. Everyone has preferences. When you get OLD enough, you find that it is pointless to talk someone out of theirs.

ZirconJohn knows guns, and the gun game. I know him personally, and like the guy. The question isn't about his affinity for plastic crap or my love of hammers. It is about choice, and the more of that there is, the better.

If it goes bang everytime, it's hard to knock regardless. Fanboys need to grow up. Hence the reason they are called boys. The Glock vs XD vs 1911 debate drives me crazy, I have all 3, plus wheel guns, And I love them all. It is always good to hear from the ornery old guys who like polymer. Hi! I would cite resources to back my opinion up about how I think gun is over hyped, but I am tired from my school work, for I just wrote an essay.

My reasoning for thinking that they are over hyped is because of typical psychology factors where someone says that glocks are awesome, and that creates a consensus from other people who want to justify their purchase from another angle besides how well it shoots, which is irrelevant since people have different standards of what shoots best for them, and keep in mind that can be altered by many other elements due to ignorance mostly.
If one "Woo" Girl starts it, then others will follow, which is why Justin Beiber exist.

Some person said WOO for Glocks and now everyone likes Glocks apparently. If your ignorant about guns and buy a glock on the WOO factor, then that is a shame.

Im open to other comments though, thanks for reading and asking for my opinion.

I have in my repetoir many-many types of pistols, revolvers, rifles and
shotguns... and know what, I don't shoot them all... well, not yet! - As I said
in an earlier post; I'm 8-days a week, always DOING something at work or
business kind'a-guy.

I'll either get to shoot them all one day, or my grandchildren will be very
happy campers if/when I kick a bucket in my early old age.

But... but I sure like to get to at least a mid 60's... I wanna see what it's
like to be an ORNERY old SOB for a while rather than only just an ornery
feller in training like I am now.

When I do go to my galley of guns... I have choices... such great and
wonerfiul choices... Glock or hammer S/A, D/A... or revolver...

These so called statements of 'against' always crack me up...

Your welcome and other guns work too. Its all in the marketing. I agree with what someone else in this thread said. Ask people if know what glock is and they will say yes, but ask about Hi Power and probably not. Keep in mind that there is a large bias opinion about glocks being so great and I have noticed it ever since I joined calguns, however the OP suggested that they were faulty and now the new gen. is better.

It is not my intention to bash on Glocks, but the OP made an odd statement. You stated that people own them because glocks work - simple. However, the OP stated that many problems were fixed. So which is it? Glocks did suck and now they dont????? OK.

Oh and I think the movie Die Hard has something to do with the hype.

Anyway, Im out! I joined in this thread to amuse myself with the trivial discussion. I did not mean to offend anyone.

I never said the new gen 4's are better I was specifically talking about the Gen 4 G17 and how the latest combined revisions to it have solved issues that have been plaguing them since their release. The thread title was supposed to throw people off it wasn't my intent to say Glocks suck literally and now they don't suck.

In my opinion, a lot of the "bias" from Glock owners (aka fanboys), stems from the other brand name gun owners. Do you know what 90% of all 1911, Sig, HK, Springfield, S&W, CZ etc. owners have in common? They all hate Glocks. I'll restate 90%, so that there's no argument.

Run whatever gun you shoot best, and have the most confidence in. It also depends on your purpose for the gun. Some guys carry, some guys just shoot at the range, some guys compete, and some guys just like to own "fine" handguns. Do whatever makes you happy, and quit worrying about what everybody else does. A man shouldn't need to smash another brand of gun, "hyped" or not, to make himself feel better about his choice of weapons. If you made the right choice, you wouldn't need to.

I don't own a 1911, Sig, HK, M&P, XD, CZ (blah blah blah). Not because I think they suck, but because I don't like any of them. I shoot & compete with Glocks because everything about them fits me, an I'm 100% confident in them. I don't hate people that don't like Glocks, especially if they've actually shot one before deciding not to like them. I don't think anyone who chooses another brand is stupid. I'll keep shooting my Glocks, and I have no problems with anyone shooting whatever the hell they feel like. I don't shove Glocks down someone's throat when they ask me what handgun to buy. They work for me, and that's it.

I'm thinking of getting a Gen 4 G19. If it needs it, is the ejector replacement hard? I have disassembled/reassembled 1911s to frame before.
