Gecko, was there an "Orange Julius" shop at your last mall? I don't want to discuss it on an open channel, but I think I might have heard about your past exploits from another operator.

I for one am happy to have one such as this standing watch over me - like a God - while I roam the killing fields of Westfield Mall blissfully unaware.

The nickel you found under the seat of the U-haul truck doesn't count as a raise.

Cleaning bus stops for the transit agency you work for must be hard work this time of year.

Not that I bothered to read all of this, but I felt somebody should play devil's advocate.

I just felt it was worth noting that public places like malls make an ideal target for terrorism. There is nowhere here in my area of Sacramento more crowded than our local mall. Would strike fear into the hearts of people a lot more than an attack on our airport. And it would reach a larger cross section as the mall has people of all income levels where as people at the airport have to be able to afford to fly (with the exception of the employees but you get my point).

Two man teams at the exists, two man teams at each of the major walk way intersections of the walk ways and even guys who don't want to blow themselves up could cause some serious damage. Now change that to guys looking to meet their virgins ASAP by strapping on bombs and they can cut their numbers in half and completely level a mall. Even a single bomber could do enough damage to do serious damage. And the fall out would be to malls everywhere, not just that single event. An entire industry would suffer, as would all the sub-sections of the economy that depends on them.

Earlier this year a lone gunman started a fire in the Roseville Mall and the damage kept it shut down for months and raised all kinds of hell. And he was just one guy that allowed himself to be arrested. Not a terrorist. Just a nut. So it could have been much worse, and yet many lost their jobs as a result of the security and response failures. And many stores took massive loses they will need years to recover from. It is not hard to imagine how terrible the damage would be if he had been a more dedicated opponent.

So it would not surprise me at all if security companies started seriously beefing up security and training for "mall cops" as a result of this threat. SWAT type training is not that expensive. Not when you look at the risk to the industry and the economy. Hell I do it for kicks on the weekends for $150 per course plus the cost of ammo. Not static stuff. But real "shoot, move, communicate" stuff that goes beyond just simple weapons manipulation and that exceeds the training I personally received in the military - and I attended Air Base Ground Defense School which far exceeds the normal level of training most people in the military get.

So if I can do that on my own in my spare time on my income who is to say a security company for such a tempting soft target would not spend the money to give their employees such SWAT like training? If they don't, they certainly should. Not doing so if putting their heads in the sand. The world is changing.

Look, when I tell people I was in the Air Force and then describe to them what my unit and I did people often tell me "the Air Force doesn't do that." It annoys the hell out of me. People are completely clueless as to what the different services do and do not do - something that is constantly in flux by the way. So I sort of sympathize with this guy. Yes he might be full of it, but he might not. I certainly am not. Got the pictures, memories, orders, and facebook buddies from guys who were also there from those days to prove it.

I think i know of the operator your speaking of, i had assumed he would be headed for retirement by now. It is not safe to be discussing Black-Ops on open channels though. Send word through your handler before your next assignment if you need some backup.

I don't care what my old man says. Gecko_45 You RULE!!! I've been following your death-defying feats of true patriotism & bravery since I was abour 10 years old. Besides my dad, you are my hero. I would love to train next to someone with such extreme skills in the art of urban warfare and hostage situations that you have thwarted. I just can't seem to figure out WHY the heck the local police haven't given you (and your team) the 'go-ahead' on machineguns & sniper rifles yet! Did you put together that great idea of a 'rifle plate jacket' that would cover all 360-degrees & withstand a hit from a .338 Lapua Magnum? I sure hope you did. And as many people wanna talk crap about your idea of making it with duct tape, they have NO idea what they are talking about. They are just keyboard commandos that have never been on the front lines like you have: with bullets whizzing by, just barely missing your golf cart (need to put a supercharger in that ASAP!); and all those horrible perverts that lurk around each & every corner just waiting to sodomize a young boy entering a public restroom after eating in the foodcourt.

This is pretty awesome. I was hoping to take a turpentine enema/rectal flamethrower (TERF) class at the end of this month, but that got rescheduled so I could shovel goat feces at the local carnival. Life is so unfair...
