Ya, it looks sweet. To bad it will have to have a chamber loaded indicator and a magazine disconnect safety to ever get on the doj list... ugh..

Yup, the 1911 format of guns is the easiest to single shot exempt.
        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

It would be worth looking into to maybe get a group together in So Cal who wanted Ruger SR1911s. We could arrange for a SSE at the nearest place that does it, which I believe is in Bakersfield. We'd have to make a day trip of it to pick up. Would we have to appear in Bakersfield to initiate the purchase as well? I would imagine so, to start DROS?

Beautiful. And with the features at that price range.. Its a homerun. A direct competitor to the springfield armory loaded model.

It is made entirely in the USA by an American company, and looks like a solid quality product. It is a faithful replica of the Series 70 Colt, pretty much. The few improvements really are improvements. I WANT ONE! So what do we California subjects do to get one??

                  Heard good things about it.
The liberal see's the glass as half full and tries to take more.
The conservative see's glass as half empty and tries to keep it that way.
I'm with the people on the side just pouring water in the glass trying to get a drink!

Looks pretty rad, but no night sights.

                              Comment / question:

I found that the Ruger 1911 is not available in California, yet I'm interested in buying one. Can you tell me (1) why it's not available in CA, and (2) when it may be available in CA?

                              Response:
No, I am sorry the new SR1911 is not available in California. Under California Law, center fire pistols manufactured after January 1, 2007 must be equipped with both a loaded chamber indicator and a magazine disconnect. Although the SR1911 has a witness hole that allows one to determine the presence of a round on the chamber, the California Department of Justice has not recognized this device as satisfying the loaded chamber indicator requirement. The SR1911 has no magazine disconnect either. As such, the SR1911 will not be offered in California in its current configuration. At this point, there are no plans to produce a California compliant model. If you should need further assistance please call our Service Department at 928/778-6555 between 8:00 - 4:00, MST Monday thru Friday, at a time convenient for you. A Ruger Representative will be happy to help you.
