Get a beretta, you'll be happier. I've seen too many turdus firearms having to ne returned and ive owned two. A turdus is close to a baretta like a fierro with a body kit is close to a lambo
    Buy my EO Tech XPS3-0!!!

For those nutjobs who like to use the word "gouge"
Note: I did not write the above article.

Since the Taurus is made on the original Baretta equipment isn't the newer Baretta the actual clone? lol

Had a Pt92, loved it, sold it because it wasn't a Beretta and I'm a gun snob, miss it.

I own both Taurus and a Beretta. I have put thousands of rounds down range in both. I have never had a malfunction in either. I have however seen a Taurus have major malfunctions on a couple of occasions. I got lucky with mine. My friend and I bought ours at the same time. His was a freaking lemon. Thats why I moved to the Beretta.

Taurus are known for hit and miss. the 92 is better in reputation than the rest of their lineup but never the less are susceptible to the same quality control.

though most of the internal parts are interchangeable. some firing control parts like the sear are not. as a result, you may find it harder to source aftermarket parts if you ever want to upgrade your gun.

personally, i think with your budget, you can buy a nice used Beretta 92. there are plenty of them floating around the classify section. just keep an eye out for it.

The Beretta 92, when I first enter America had the frame mounted thumb safety, but it had the mag release on the side of the grip at the heel of the butt frame.

The Tauri have always had their mag release behind the trigger guard
The first Taurus PT92 was just like the Beretta 92, including having the mag release at the heel of the grip.

I no longer have my Taurus PT92, but I still have the grips.

I know it's not the best picture but you can see the Taurus logo and the cut for the mag release at the heel.

              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I bought my Taurus Revolver because it looked exactly like an S&W for half the price. I realized after the Taurus failed that it only looked like an S&W on the exterior. I sold the Taurus and will never buy another.
You are looking at the Taurus because you think you are getting a Beretta for less. Your money, your choice. If it were me, I would spend the extra $ and get something I know is good.

You can role cocked & locked with the Taurus which is about the only plus IMO over the Beretta. The Beretta will be easier to work on. Both are good pistols & you can pick either one up for that price. The Beretta will be a better long term investment.

My buddy has the Taurus and I compared it to my Beretta. Couple of things we had noticed:
                              1. The grips are different. Beretta is slightly slimmer and felt better, but that's subjective.
                              2. Mags are NOT interchangeable. A Beretta mag will fit only if modified.
                              3. The roll pins on the adjustable sights on the Taurus worked loose. My Beretta has fixed sights.
                              4. Trigger pull seems the same, very smooth.
                              5. Safety on the Taurus is frame mounted (cocked and locked), but no decocker.
                              6. Low re-sale value on the Taurus.
I'm not having a glass of wine, I'm having SIX. It's called a tasting and it's classy.
