    Taurus 92- Beretta clone???

I'm in the market for another 9mm. I want to spend around $500. The Taurus 92 looks promising. Is there any reason why I should avoid this handgun??? Or is there any reason why I should buy this handgun???

Reason to buy: Probably the best manual safety in the industry.
The frame mounted safety allows all methods of readiness carry with a decocker feature as well.
    Very reliable.

An outstanding pistol all by itself, and definitely the best of Taurus semi line.

Not as good of a trigger as the beretta for some odd reason because taurus's are beretta's basically. Definitly better than a glock trigger however.

Tested on at Turners last week. The Double action pull is better the the Beretta

The PT-92 is a Taurus made "clone" of the Beretta, made on machines bought by Beretta for manufacturing the Model 92 in S.A. and then sold to Taurus. Taurus made a few minor changes -- like a frame mounted safety that's more desirable outside of Europe.

The Taurus remains one of the firm's better guns and it seems to have a good reputation. I've fired one example and found it just as good as a Beretta.

Saw one totally pimped out at my LGS. Stainless, pearl grips, gold accents... :yikes:

at $520 I have to admit I was tempted. Just the item for cruzin' dah 'hood! Definitely don't see one every day at the range.

I don't know how CA roster work with Taurus, but if anyone care, Mark at summit gun broker has Taurus PT92af for $295.

I had one, regret selling it ever since I did.

Taurus did not make the frame mounted safety. Taurus just decided to leave the safety where it was.

Taurus is the one who bought the machining from Beretta to make the PT-92 in Brazil.

Take a look at this website for a list of the different generations of Beretta model 92.

I had one of the early Taurus 92S's with the magazine release at the bottom of the grip. It was an excellent gun.
                      Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

My first 9mm handgun is a Taurus PT92 SS. Very reliable and can carry it cocked and locked.
