main differences between glock and xd

I own both. An XD40 and 3 GLOCKS (17, 23 30) . I really like the 17. The 23 was my first Glock and my favorite .40. The first time i shot the 30 i fell in love with it. If i could only have one Glock it would be the 30.
I just recently sold my 26 and 27 Glocks. they just didn't fit me right.
I really like my XD40. Would i pick it over the Glock? No. I shoot the 23 better than i do the XD40. But if i was didn't own either it would be a toss up. If i was on a budget i would buy the XD and never look back.Comment

Actually when that was first imported it was called the HS2000 and was priced about 75$ less then a Glock. Didn't like it then and I still don't like it now.I agree 100%
One is a PROVEN combat masterpiece made in a 1st world country that has been free since WWII and has modern technological equipment/knowledge and experienced engineering. (Austria). The other gun is CURRENTLY made in a former socialist run European country that was really a "2.5 world" nieghbor to the Soviet Union (aka: Croatia, which split from Austria about 100 years ago.....BIG MISTAKE) up until about a decade ago. It just has a fancy and popular label on the gun now, called "Springfield."
I'd bet anyone, that if the XD didn't have the "Springfield" label on it, sales would be really really low! Nobody would buy a "Croatiafield" now, would they?
Buy something that works. Why fix something that ain't broke? Glocks just work.

When you buy a Glock you know exactly what your getting. Your getting a reliable, simple, battle tested design that has been copied by every other company out there and most still don't get it right. There are 3 kinds of people in this world.
The wise, learn from the mistakes of others.
The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.

One thing that hasn't been noted is that the XD bore axis tends to sit higher than both Glock or M&P, which matters for recoil control and follow-up shots. Something to ponder, anyhow, if you test drive them side by side -- which you kinda have to do to really notice the differences.
For me, the XD has the slide lock/release in the completely wrong place and I kept riding it with my thumb position while shooting, so the slide would never lock back on empty.Last edited by scootle; 12-15-2010, 2:56 AM.SCC CCW *326 Days, $1051.29*

Same here. XD is a nice gun otherwise, but it didn't work out for me. Lol, i wonder the worls would be if ford/chevy/toyota/honda/bmw/etc never changed their first car design because it worked...i wonder why we have to upgrade computer every week if a 50mhz computers works.... I wonder.... You get the point.Originally Posted by Joe

Dont go saying glock never changed...why else is there Gen 4. If you want to throw ij the "made in croatia" thing then it just means some small country can make guns just as good as the holy glock....
Both gun is good. Just depends on the shooter, but glock fans will always hate while xd fans will mostly like both.Originally posted by GottmitunsIt's not protecting the rights of the 1%, it's IMPOSING new laws because of the 1%.Comment

One huge thing for me and since as I have 3 of one and 4 of the other I qualify to say this an that parts availability. I have mentioned this and I have read this many times before but since nobody has witten this up yet , here I go. Anybody can buy Glock parts anywhere in the world (where legal) take the gun apart and fix it any time any where. Try that with an XD. Xd's have to be sent to Springfield to get any part other than a lost clip or spring. That alone pisses me off so much I would never buy another XD. Xd resale value is lower % wise than Glocks. Glocks have more metal to metal contact between the slide and frame then XD's. They both shoot fine enough in the light duty situations I use them in. For a true noob the firing pin that pops out the back and the extractor that pops up can halp sway a new shooter. I have heard noobs say that Glock scare them as there is no saftey.
Bottom line is parts for me.Rancho Punetas CaliforniaComment

then take a look at the CZ, which is a former socialist country, that has more guns in more police officers hands then any other in the world.
Stop drinking the glock marketing when it comes to that, its simply not true.
GLock and XD, both good guns. One size doesnt fit all. Just deal with it and move a long fanbois.Sandstorm Custom Rifle Slings : Custom Paracord slings
