G20 only reason to get a glock. Until the XD10 comes out ; )War does not determine who is right - only who is left!!
I'll keep my money, guns and freedom...you can keep your "change"

Glock = OG........XD = wanna be.....LOL This stuff cracks me up...If you stay in these rooms long enough you will hear this stuff repeated over and over. We all seem to have the need to justify what we own.
I like...Glocks*.XD's#.M&P's#.Sigs*.Beretta's*....CZ 's#....1911's*....Rugers*....HK's#.......Brownings #..Just about every maker makes something I want. I have a hard time deciding what to buy and what to take to the range and exercise.
If I was in a situation where bullets where flying both ways I would be happy to have either one in my hand.
If I could only own one...It would be a G19. Why? Because for me it is the easiest to maintain, and I have the most confidence in it. However, I personally have little problem adapting from one weapon to another. I personally don't understand why some make a big deal about glock ergonomics. If ergonomics are a major concern for you than buy what you like. That said if you can't become proficient with a glock god help you. Also looks and a very slight difference in grip angle are way down on the list of what is important to me in a fighting pistol.

Some info will be redacted.
Shenanigun s,
That statement is one that has been around longer than I've been with the company. I've researched it, but the only tracking that currently takes place are for the most recent contracts. I know that no manufacturer has challenged it in the past 8 years at least.
I have a list of references that note the model, and political entity that issues them, but I can't send them out to an anonymous e-mail with with unknown motive or agenda.

Subject: New Question Submitted by shenanigun s
Shenanigun s () has submitted a question on C Z 75 BD
You claim this:
"C Z 7 5 B is used by more Governments, Militaries, Police and Security agencies than any other pistol in the world."
Is there any proof to this claim? I'd like to know who all these agencies are and how many are issued.
Thank youLast edited by Shenaniguns; 12-16-2010, 1:16 PM.My opinions are my own and do not represent the position of other companies I may be involved with.Comment

Differences are,
XD has a thinner grip and shorter reach for small hands.
XD is a single action striker fired gun with a traditional like sear engagement.
The glock is more of a half double action because the actual travel of the trigger finishes the cocking cycle before firing.
The glock's plastic is less shiny than a XD
The XD has bigger controls
XD has a more easily seen loaded chamber indicator (Doesn't really do anything for me).
The XD has a cocking indicator because the trigger is always in the same spot. Cocked or uncocked.
The XD has a heavier pull out of the box but because of its inner workings to some it actually feels lighter.
The XD has a grip safety the glock does not.
The XD sC has a rail, sc glocks in 9mm and 40 do not. (I don't really need one).
The XD is cheaper than a glock usually by around 50-100 dollars.
XD magazines are metal with plastic floorplates. The glock magazines are polymer covered metal sheets with plastic floor plates.
The Glock's trigger reset out of the box is better than that of an XD but the trigger feel is nothing to write home about.
The Glock's trigger is squishy and stacks before it breaks, I think some of it has to do with flex from the trigger bar and some from the way the sear to striker engagement is.
The XD's trigger is very crisp once staged.
The Glock breaks apart to the very bone way easier than just about any gun in my opinion. It only has three pins and the entire gun breaks apart.
The XD requires the trigger to be pulled to take the slide off. Some people really have a problem with it, I do not.
The glock is a lighter firearm. All of its components are either smaller in size, thinner in metal, or polymer.
Where as the XD has beefier looking internal components with metal trigger and metal grip safety clearly visible without breaking apart.
The Glock has two sets of small metal rails for the slide to ride on which attribute to its great dry running reliability reputation
The XD has long metal rails on the locking block and a long plastic rear rail for stability.
Although the slide to frame fitment is nowhere near as tight as a custom 1911, the XD does have a slightly tighter fit.
Thats about all the differences I can think of.Comment

I like the glock, and I liked the XD when I owned an XD, but for me the Steyr M series I prefer better. Glock and XD are equally good.
With a Steyr M you get a:
- 111 degree grip angle with an ergonomic feel
- Supported chamber
- Fully replaceable steel slide rails that sit in a metal sub frame. In 5 minutes I can strip out the entire lower metal sub frame and throw the polymer frame in the dishwasher.
- Triangular sights
- The striker is preloaded 72% so you have a 5.5lb trigger pull with a 5/32" travel compared to the 3/4" of the glock. This means the the trigger reset is almost equal to the trigger travel distance
- Locking safety with key to lock the entire gun
- Lower bore axis due to the grip feelComment

So from Glock vs. XD turned into CZ and now Steyr M.

They are CA legal. I have a G17.
They just aren't on the approved roster, so you have to jump through one of several available hoops to legally obtain one.
I was looking to get my first handgun and I liked the Glock/XD/MP9.
The grip safety on the XD killed it for me. I hate the feeling of it.
I don't care about "you need both hands to rack the slide" because I can't rack my Glock with one hand either haha.
But it just felt cheap and sketchy. I like the XDs design and price point though, so if you're cool with it I say get one.Last edited by Anchors; 12-16-2010, 2:36 PM.Comment

Mine was reversed when I turned 21 I bought a glock 21 and strait out of the box it would jam ever third round I sent it into glock and they repaired it and have not had a problem sense but I really dont use it much. I picked up a XD .45 tactical and never looked back not a single FTF or jam and my groups are much tighter so if the SHTF I would go for my XD without a second thought and I started out a glock guy. Here is my take on things. My very fist gun ever was an XD40 back in 2003 when I had turned 21. Took that typical trip to Turners where I was basically fed the "XD is handgun of the year!" spiel. I bet that salesman got his spiff money at the end ofthe month. Who's to blame, I didn't do my research. Had it for a year and after 400 rounds regardless of the shooter, ammo, and with an aftermarket guiderod and spring, every round jammed on the feedramp. I even polished the feedramp, no dice. I never sent it to SA for them to take a look at it and I ended up selling it. A few months later I bought a Sig P220 that I just sold back in October to get what I have now, a Glock 21SF. I couldnt be any happier with my Glock and have shot better groups with my Glock than I have with either my Sig and XD. Even though my Sig never had one hiccup, for some reason I just couldn't say I could truly depend my life on it if need be. It was a beautiful gun none the less, but I certainly don't miss it. I was one of the many who didn't really appreciate Glock's because of how "ugly" they are and how "terrible" the grip angle is on it, but after some serious thought into it, I gave in. Unless its a safe queen, which none of my weapons are, looks are the least of my concern, plus all guns are beautiful to the eye of the beholder. I am more of a utilitarian type of person and a Glock is certainly that.
Perhaps I just got a bum XD, but after my experience I lost complete faith in it. I'm sure SA has worked the bugs out of them but things about SA "warranty" is sure questionable; instead of them sending you a part, they would rather have you send in the entire gun. In my case, SA refused to send me a recoiled spring assembly. With my Glock, I have options of where I can get replacement parts at a great deal (C&R FFL is awesome at Brownells and Midway).
Warranties are great and SA certainly has that going for themselves and it is a major selling and buying point for some consumers. However a warranty doesn't mean crap to me. I know for certain my M1 Garand, my mix master AR's, my LRB and Norinco M14s have no warranty what so ever and I'm not loosing sleep over it.
My thumbs are starting to get sore typing this from my Blackbery so I will end it here. For the newcomers of guns, all I can suggest is that you do your homework, rent some guns, do more homework and then plunk your hard earned green down for what you think will make you happy. I hope this is isn't too biased.
Excuse any misspelled words.Keep your bugger hook off the bang stick and you will not have a problem!!!Comment

Are you sure? I find my G17 trigger to be firm and my buddy's XD40 to be "squishy" and sloppy.

Hey buddy, Glock is made in AUSTRIA.....
So what other SIGNIFICANT foreign armies of the world (read: non pizz-ant armies that is) use any other polymer gun besides Glock?Originally posted by mif_slim...Now Glock fans have to do what they can before word gets out that other polymer guns are equal with them..
Nope, just made by Gaston.Originally posted by mif_slimOps, sorry I had forgotten.. Glock was made from the gods. My bad.
