Maybe the 10 round CA mags we are cursed with comes from the fact that the state is run by zombies and when they finally reveal their true selves we will be easier prey running out of ammo and constantly switching magazines. I imagine the last thing your likely to see before its lights out will be all the discarded bullet buttons littering the streets.
If we're talking the kind of zombies from the "Day By Day Armageddon" series of books I think my Ruger 10-22 would be my weapon of choice. Easy to carry lots of ammo, good at long and short range(head shots all you need), and not to loud. Gunshots and other kinds of noise attracts the undead. In the end, theres always more zombies than ammo.

Like to know more about the legality of high capacity mags. Is possession thereof automatically an offense?

What about those converted mags? For example, what about those mags that block off the bottom of a high capacity mag to fit only 10 rounds. After government collapses, we can just remove the blockage and convert them back to its original high capacity.

What about unassembled high capacity magazines? Can we buy them as parts and assemble them after the infection has begun? If so, can I just buy a bunch of them in Nevada, disassemble them in the hotel, and bring or mail them back to California as parts?

Maybe we need to make up a secret handshake so we know who to hole up with?

I am a follower of Christ, and Im convienced that there already ARE living dead walking amongst us.

                      Ephesians 2:1-5

"And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)," (Eph. 2:1-5, NKJV).

To sum up the question, I would be armed with The Word, sharper than a 2 edged sword:

                      Hebrews 4:12 (New International Version)

12For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Remember yall, that the fight is not against flesh and blood:

                      Ephesians 6:12 (New International Version)
12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

For all else, 7.62, 12 gauge, hollow point pistol anything.

My life for He who gave His life for me
God arms me with strength, and he makes my way perfect.
                      Psalms 18:32

you just gotta run in a circle, and thumper at the ground as soon as you see the muzzle come out around the corner. ive done it solo, multiple times. just jog around the perimeter of the map, and sprint to the ammo dumps when you need to reload. theres plenty of right angles to duck around to avoid the mg fire.... i dont even really use the flashbangs or the knife.
