Btw, you know in the quote you have in your sig, Jefferson was referring to his dislike of the whole idea of Trinity (which is a man made thing, imo), and other ideas Calvin had adopted.

Cool link! That particular quote was not about the Trinity though, there's more to it than I posted.

I am an atheist, but Jefferson was NOT an atheist, nor was he a Calvinist, or any other form of Christian... he was a Natural Deist in his beliefs and he called the bible and Christianity "a superstition" like Islam and the other religions he studied.

The majority of sources on Jefferson label him as a Deist. 19th Century Unitarianism though was much different than it is today and was essentially Deism. He shared many early Unitarian beliefs such as not believing in "Original Sin", thus they believed Jesus was simply a moral person with no redemptive powers and was incapable of magic powers. But he differed on other points with Unitarians. He even rewrote the New Testament and edited out the miracles and supernatural stuff - the Jefferson Bible.

In his own words he said "I am of a sect by myself" and belonged to no organized religion.

Though, like Adams, he may have claimed affiliation as a Unitarian (an extremely liberal denomination in the 19th century) - which was more socially acceptable (some opponents falsely smeared Adams as a Presbyterian). This may have been necessary since many of the Founding Fathers were deists and the cultural environment was oppressive to non-Christians. In fact Jefferson's political opponents (the Federalist Party) even drew cartoons of him with the devil (calling Jefferson "son") tearing down the pillars of America, claimed he was an atheist, and one tract in Delaware said if he became president, his atheist and Jacobin sympathies would cause people to be assassinated in the streets and mothers and daughter would be raped. I guess political mudslinging has always existed

Jefferson's buddies, and the great American patriots, Thomas Paine and Ethan Allen were also deists who regarded the bible and Christianity as man-made myths (Paine was socially ostracized for his pamphlet "The Age of Reason").

Anyway, I wanted to stick to Zombies. Sorry for the sidetracked post...
Proud atheist. "And the day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the supreme being as his father in the womb of a virgin will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerve in the brain of Jupiter. But may we hope that the dawn of reason and freedom of thought in these United States will do away with this artificial scaffolding." -Thomas Jefferson

        Handgun wise?

Good thing I have plenty of 9mm HP's and JHP for my Glock 19.

Although I agree with most here that head shot zombies would probably result in a lot of us being dead meat. I'm a good shot, but head shots aren't easy standing still. Let alone in a panic, running for your life and exhausted half to death.

In any zombie scenario, I would always want three main weapons.

My Glock 19, my STAG 15 and my Ruger 10/22

Keep your, 40, .45 and 7.62x39... 9mm will down the job and put em down, 10/22 will make for good times on the roof and when I really want to reach out or touch them from a distance or I have to defend myself from other survivors, I'll fall back to the .223.

Plus the benefit of 9mm, .223 and 22 is they are all light weight!

For all those praising the 10/22; I must be missing something. How is a 22 considered a good, accurate, long range gun? Yeah ammo is cheap, but the round is hardly a killer of anything. You would have to hit a very small sweet spot in the head with one of those. A glancing blow with 223, 308, or other centerfire rifle ammo would do the deed. Again, maybe iam missing something.

            The theory I believe...

Is a .223 will go clean through the skull, brain and back out the other side. Making a rather small hole.

However the 22 will penetrate the skull, then rattle around the brain without enough power to penetrate back out.

Personally I support the 22 as a zombie killing machine simply, because the ammo is super light weight and I could sit on a roof shooting ALL day without hurting my shoulder.

I was a Boy Scout. I'm always prepared. The aliens and zombies are already here - as has been pointed out too many times, they tend to concentrate in legislative bodies. Maybe when "The Day" comes, we can start there first...
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

Since we are talking fantasy, why not get Optimus Prime or some other autobot. Hell, you could probably reprogram Megatron to be a good guy. Best bodyguard ever

Mini 14 and a Glock 17 for backup. I don't have an AR... And yeah, screw a bullet button.
Bullet Button..., I think thats going to be the last of peoples problems. Gun stores and NRA will be handing out "FIX IT KITS" for ARs in the time of ZOMBIE crysis/emergency.

Zombies may not me the main reason I bought firearms; but its the main reason why I stock up on ammo. You never know now adays lol. ... ya i know its no laughing matter.

Does it have to be a handgun?

Probably an AR with good optics and a ton of ammo (I picked the AR because the ammo is lighter and it's pretty accurate. Then I'd do it 28 Days Later style and sit on top of a building. (Abandoned gun store or armory?) haha.

                          That or a flame thrower.

Or molotov cocktails if we're going old school, Night Of The Living Dead zombies.

Hey, even in a zombie apocalypse state penal codes still apply. Should the disaster be adverted you could face charges for removing your bullet button

Not sure what are the zombie rules here. Near the end of the preview of "The Walking Dead", the revolver dude found himself a tank.

I'm thinking about style point here, pure reliability is over-rated I'll take a niche gun.
