Zombies?

I always love reading zombie threads...
Saiga 7.62x39 would be my go to
AR-15, Saiga 12, Mossberg 500 would get passed around or be in reserve
Glock 26 stays on me
If you take zombies seriously though, try thinking about the situation more and why its damn near impossible for anything along those lines to happen. Cracked has a very funny article that touches on some of the reasons.

If I can take out ten juggernauts in the favela with just the thumper and a knife, I think that zombies should be no problem. Just practice running backwards.Comment

Assuming we are not talking about fictional zombies, but real zombies; I have to think they will have the same physiological limitations as regular humans. Stopping them with lethal force would require the same weapons as what you choose for home defense with the exception of capacity.
In apocolypse scenarios, the groups of attackers may be significantly larger than the groups of defenders. While good high cap mags of everything would be ideal, explosives would be better. I don't know how to get them, but grenades and c4 would make a big difference in defending your position. That and a bunch of buddies with good guns and ammo reserves.

I didn't even read that whole cracked article but I could tell he was mainly addressing the moviestyle zombies,
1. If a zombie wandered into a wal-mart no one would notice and if he infected 5 people the it would spread relatively quickly especially since most people in there already look like zombies
2. American people are fat and out of shape. Imagine if a football player got infected, he would be physically capable he could bite a hell of a lot of peopleComment

We found out recently that if you try to leave a little kid in a graveyard late at night, he'll freak out. Even if you offer to leave him a gun to protect himself. Why? It's because on some instinctual level, all humans know it's just a matter of time until th
Check that out and you tell me if zombies are possible, its more of a joke website but still very creepy.
FYI before you read the comments to see what people are saying on that site make sure you click next and look at all 5 pages/all 5 reasons it could happen.Last edited by ArmednReady; 09-14-2010, 9:40 AM.Comment

I am operating mobile right now so I have not read the linked articles. But I go off of the definition of Zombies as the "living dead" or more literaly those infected (with whatever) that will die in a relatively short amount of time, but are still very functional and contageous and very desperate. There wouldn't be any superhuman strengths or speed or resistance to physical force. However their desperation could lead to meth head like aggressiveness.
That being said non vital shots may not slow them down as much as it would a regular god fearing humans.
I think most of my arms would be effective. I would carry the 40 with spare mags (note to self: dig through the closet and find all those pre-ban standard cap mags), AR, and 12g with slug barrel loaded with slugs. Wife would carry her .357 and the 18" 12g with 00 buck. The boy will have to learn to shoot the 20 g or the lever gun and put the 380 on his belt. But he will be 6 when the apocolypse goes down, so I better start training him.

It appears that defending a zombie uprising requires a lot of ammos. Therefore, I think we need a good vest that can carry a lot of extra magazines and maybe one or more backup pistols in the events of malfunction. Any recommendations?Last edited by agent.5; 09-14-2010, 2:46 PM.Comment
