Recommendations for a good 9mm compact

Why averse to polymer frames? H&K USP Compact. Light and uber-reliable, albeit expensive. Otherwise, one of the compact CZ's (P-01 or PCR) would be my choice, as the best value and ergonomics.

Looking to buy a nice compact pistol in 9mm. I had a glock 26 and did not like it at all. Much prefer metal framed pistols. I don't mind polymer but just not that into glock. Had a few in mind but wanted to get recommendations, tips, etc. from the community experience about quality and reliability.

Kahr MK or K if you want a metal frame, P, CW, or PM if polymer is ok. The CW, P, and K are about the same size as a SW Shield, the MK and Pm are smaller.

Since Star has been out of business since 1997 I think you will have a hard time finding a BM, and the mags may be unattainable and prohibitively expensive if found. I had a .45acp PD years ago. Great pistol. Should of kept it.

I just picked up a nib P-01 and have a couple hundred rounds through it after the first trip to the range. What sights did you upgrade to?

If you’re a CZ guy, prefer steel frames, have medium-large hands, how can you possibly not already know that it’s a P-01 you’re after?

Sigs are great, but being a self proclaimed CZ guy that top heaviness will be a non-starter. After getting an SP-01 the only Sigs I have left are a P365 (and even that now feels unnecessarily top heavy) and an MPX carbine.

About the same size but smaller and lighter. The only thing about the CW9 that is not smaller is the barrel, which is a good thing.

doubt you could go wrong with any of those, try the natural point test on each model. Point the gun with eyes focused on target, when extended check the sights, see which model points naturally and lines up sights without effort.

yep, that is next on my list, that gun is the best natural pointing gun I have ever held.

We just picked up a CW9. Wifey already claimed it.

It shoots well. Super light. Just a tad small for me to shoot often. But perfectly fine for its intended use.

+1 on Kahr, PM9 in my case.

The polymer Kahr PM9 or stainless Kahr MK9 both pack 3" 9mm power into a pistol the size of a typical 2.5" 380.
