Recommendations for a good 9mm compact

Hey CG,

Looking to buy a nice compact pistol in 9mm. I had a glock 26 and did not like it at all. Much prefer metal framed pistols. I don't mind polymer but just not that into glock. Had a few in mind but wanted to get recommendations, tips, etc. from the community experience about quality and reliability.

I see you have a P365XL on the wish list. That would do you well.

The P01 and PCR are a bit heavy for EDC but manageable from what I’ve read. Also, given the capacity, you can find something lighter with similar capacity.

Can't go wrong with CZ's. Although not on your list, a CZ compact might be easier to find right now. It should also cost a little less.

I know glocks are a good gun, I just don't like them. lol. P365 would be good, but they are just so over priced by everyone selling them. They used to sell for $800 here in CG. But now they are $1300+. I'll pay a price buy don't want to be gouged.

I don't mind a heavy frame. My favorite gun right now is a CZ Bull Shadow. Talk about heavy. haha

I am looking into that option already too. But talk about impossible to find. Probably going to have to buy a P01 just to cannibalize the frame for CZ Custom to add the compact bull shadow slide. Going to be expensive as hell. lol

PCR , yeah it may be heavy to some but how heavy is it really ? I don't CC but if I did because I like metal and prefer a hammer PCR would be my choice. Plus you can run regular CZ mags in a pinch. It's pretty fun shooting 17rds in those bad boys lol.

These are some metal framed compact models.
If you want smaller then the polymer framed stuff.

Are you looking for a compact or subcompact?

Your sizing is a little off. I would differentiate subcompact slim, subcompact and compact like this:

Subcompact slim: P365, Shield, G43
Subcompact: G26/27, P2000sk, RAMI, XD3", P239
Compact: P01, PCR, G19/23, P2000, P229, USPcompact, SD9VE, SP2022, PX4

When I shoot outdoors which hasn't been in a loooooong while I spend the day with my 75BD on my hip , it's heavy but not too bad imho. Now doing that for a daily option would be a hard no.

I really like the PCR and CZ's in general so i'm biased.
