i "patched" up both of my Smiths with the plugs they sell - overall i think they came out pretty good, never gonna be a no lock original but after some time you don't even give it a second thought

HUGE black eye for Colt.... and then the exec went to the Boeing school of damage control.
It no wonder they went bankrupt.

I think Colt has been treated very poorly by the shooting community.
they took a big risk and spent a lot of resources to offer a new Python, and way too many people are refusing to give them a little slack and breathing room to succeed. Asking for perfection from Colt on the Python roll out is very unfair. Even Glock still has trouble with its “perfection”.
All the muzzle dents can and will be quickly fixed, and there is not enough info to determine what caused the handful of function issues complained about.
All the negative whiners don’t deserve a new Python.Comment

Maybe you need to buy a new Python and report back when you feel like giving Colt "a little slack"...maybe $1500 worth of slack. Comparing a Colt to a Glock makes no sense whatsoever.True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.
Life's journey is not to arrive safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy schit...what a ride"!!

As an outside observer of all this (not a Python guy or even a revolver guy, but also not a hater, currently own zero revolvers) I've just been noticing that...man...in general, these Colt Python threads are an absolute salt mine. Almost as salty as any thread saying anything negative about Glocks. People are really married to positive or negative polarized responses in these Python threads.
I feel like on one hand, lots of firearms come with little glitches from the factory. It's never acceptable, since not every gun is destined for a life as a range gun and people depend on firearms to protect their lives and the lives of those important to them, and in an ideal world every firearm should come thoroughly beta-tested, but it is in no way extraordinarily unusual. I think it just gets more attention because it is "the Colt Python" but this is pretty much par for the course.
On the other hand, I feel like the ammo excuse is complete horses**t. There are so many ammo choices out there in the world, and firearms should (and the vast majority of firearms do in fact) work with every conceivable "reasonable" type of ammo put into them (an example of "unreasonable" is Aguila Mini Shells in some shotguns, since most shot guns are not designed to work with those, or like really s****y reloads). I doubt any tester that has encountered issues with the Python was using unreasonable ammunition during their tests, and typically the "ammo" excuse made by manufacturers is in translation "we don't know what's going on" or "we don't care to take responsibility for/want to fix the issue".Last edited by LateBraking; 01-23-2020, 3:50 PM.sigpic

My number one rule #1 - never get in line to buy anything. I’d like a Python but the hype surrounding its release and some retailers gouging - charging $2000-2500 bucks - tells me to wait a year. Am I shocked by some quality problems? Nope. They’ll hammer it out. But I’ll buy year 2.Comment

Colt's over the hill. Hopefully they can pull their **** together. this python shows an effort to at least. Yes, i own a colt 1911 that jams. I guess i should send it to the factory. the front sight is also a bit wobbly may not last forever.Comment

it won't make it the same as a true no lock S&W but it's a small price to pay if you really have issues with that unsightly hole - call it a little piece of mind or whatever, for me it was more of a FU kind of thing to S&W - i really liked the Performance Center Model 19 they came out with in 3" and i wasn't gonna let that damn hole stop me from getting a nice revolver - the S&W 686+ just happened to be on sale at a good price
for the life of me i really don't see the positive side about S&W keeping that Hillary hole there - im sure they lose quite a bit of $$$ in sales having it
it's barely noticeable on my Model 19 with a slight difference in color match-up

on my stainless S&W 686+ a little more noticeable but still a helluva lot better looking than seeing that damn Hillary hole
