Colt trying to do some damage control. Any way you slice it, they lost a lot of people's confidence in their products.

Brand name and nostalgia aside, why would anyone pay $1500 for this when you can easily find a more reliable, robust, and lower costing S&W L frame that has a proven track record?

I mean we have all seen on videos the freaking cylinder not turning, and light primer strikes. Why can’t he just acknowledge the facts?? Honestly after that video I have even less confidence in them.

If he had come out and said ‘we have determined the cause’ and it was due to poor QC or materials or something, I would have felt better. But to act like it was ammo (‘only use Colt brand ammo!’) or that they can’t reproduce problems - forget it man.

Not shelling out my money for one until the smoke clears and we have a couple/few years track record,

We need the Revolver's Lovers write up a report of comparison of the three: Colt Typhon (2020), Ruger Redhawk and S&W 686. (357MAG and 44MAG). PLEASE

I think I watched the video - intros with "we had a problem" segment, shot after the video, then goes to the video itself. I've tried to figure out what the problem would be, it obviously involves the hand not being pushed through the recoil plate and engaging the cylinder ratchets.

There is a very good close up of the Python action on another thread. The cause could be anything from a loose sideplate, or one incorrectly cut, to an issue with the rebound lever, or a burr or even debris caused from shooting. Unlike Smith or Ruger, the Colt doesn't use direct spring pressure to move the hand forward. The V mainspring imparts pressure on the rebound lever, the leading edge of rebound lever rides on a geometric cut on the hand. It's not an especially robust arrangement, nor particularly aggressive.

I would be interested to know from Hickock45 what caused the malfunction.

That locking mechanism can be deleted. Just no easy way to patch the hole. Or look for a pre-Hillary Hole 686+. Or better yet, spend that $1500 on a fancy semi auto
