Justifying Gun purchase

Look... if this is the gun you really want and you have the cash and the wife's permission, do it. There is no reason not to.
Personally not the gun for me, though it's damned cool.
Once you realize that you really, really want something and are pretty sure you're going to buy it, you should do so as soon as you can. Remember that we don't really "buy" things because we don't own them permanently. Eventually you're going to die, and it'll go to someone else, right? Waiting a week means that you're paying the same price on the life-long rental, but you'll get less time to use it.
As someone else said, life is too short. I could drop one of Omar Khayyam's rubai on you, but I think you get the idea.Last edited by Kappy; 01-05-2017, 7:41 PM.Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.Comment

They are on the roster. All it takes is $1,000 deposit to get it going. You actually design your own gun through their web site ( http://www.sviguns.com/2001.php , they help you with it). It takes 12-15 months, and the balance is due when the firearm is ready. That means you could just include them in your monthly budget and send them $4-500 a month until the gun is ready to spread the financial impact.
When it is about 90 days out they will send your FFL a CA roster compliant gun, you DROS it and 10 days later send it back for customization to turn it into the gun you designed. You actually will get two invoices, one for the gun and another to customize it."... when a man has shot an elephant his life is full"- John Alfred Jordan

IMO that's a ridiculous amount for a pistol, but if you have the monies and are willing to let the wife spend the same on something for herself, go aheadI am torn between letting myself buy a rather pricey new gun. Specifically a $3000 STI edge in 9mm for 3 gun. Do I need it absolutely not I'm sure I can do just fine with my current setup (Glock 34) but the opportunity presented itself and it's just one of those things. How do you justify spending this much on a Pistol. Specifically ways to get my wife on the same page lol. I keep talking myself out of it. I say it won't make you better shooter spent the money on better things lol can't think of anything better yet. But $3000 for a pistol and. That's just the beginning. What does everyone thinkComment

Well holy crap this just might be the ticket. I can pay my wife slowly and my gun slowly and it won't hurt at all and I get a really nice gun. Wow I don't know how I didn't know about this I see the infinity guns at a lot of the matches too. Let me askThey are on the roster. All it takes is $1,000 deposit to get it going. You this because it has to be the hardest part way harder than spending the $$$ how do you wait a little over a year for such a nice gun? I would go crazy and probably have dreams about picking it up when I'm still like 8 months out lolComment

"I need cover to drop $6k on a gun my wife and I know I want. I need a dis-interested, third-party opinion. I know....I'll post the question on a FIREARMS FORUM AND ASK FIREARMS OWNERS IF I SHOULD BUY A GUN!"Oh yes I forgot to mention my wife said she wants the same $$$ that I spend on my new gun and so far that's only thing making me second guess it lol. I have a good saving account so no problem feeding and paying mortgage lol. I shoot 3 matches a month and I have owned an STI before and sold it and lost about $1000 and regret selling it and funny thing is my wife said don't sell it you know you will want one again and sure enough I'm here 1 year later and she said I told you so. I miss the weight I miss the look I miss the trigger and just owning it. But when it boils down my performance wasn't any different between the glock 34
Well played.
You want it.
Your wife wants it.
Your wife wants equal consideration (Hell, with the little you've told us about her, she's a keeper. Give her $3k, then fund your gun.)
You can afford it.
You need to get rid of the old money to make room for new money.
Get the gun.
Why are you still here? GO GET THE GUN!Comment

I have a friend who spends $10 a day at Starbucks, it all gets pissed away. Stop that for a year and you're there.
As I look back I have blown $3k on lame things in the past and I have nothing to show for it. Your new toy would last forever.
