Then go "acquire" one out of state. Of care not exempt from the law, you won't legally be able to import it into CA. So, you'll have leave it out of state but, you're welcome to "acquire" as many as you like as long as you don't break any laws doing so.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

Popular current 10+1 or less guns we can't get:
- Ruger SR22
- Ruger Mk3 / 22-45
- Colt Mustang .380 polymer frame (and other pocket .380s)
- Browning 1911-.380
- S&W .22s old 21 and the new one
There's lots more.

What gun is the mag for?... M&P (40 or 9) are known for that issue - I shaved down the follower legs a little and no problem loading 10... I say 40 or 9 'cause I use both in same frame and can't remember which ones had the problem.
Not sure if this would help your problem - but it might."Kamala is a radical leftist lunatic" ~ Donald J. TrumpComment

There is no exception in the law for only loading 10 rounds in a +10 round mag. If you have trouble loading the 10th round, why not just load 8 or 9 rounds for a while? The springs will break in after some use and it will be easier to fully load the mag. Also, you'll shoot just a little less so, it'll be a little less expensive. If you're using your gun for HD/SD, just struggle to get the 10th round in when you are loading it for that reason.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

LOL. The simple question I asked is being turned into only God knows what.Sorry but not agreeing. From the start of the thread OP's comments seem to portray him as feeling special. The roster was meant to protect us all from all these "Unsafe" (sarcasm) weapons. So if the public needs to be saved from them why let LE purchase and carry such an unsafe thing around all of us commoners.
Let me rephrase it.
Since there is a ten round limit on magazines in California, when a person in Ca buys a gun that was designed to be used with magazines that hold over ten rounds , they have to either use ten round magazines made for California (and other strange states) or use blocked/butchered std cap magazines. Or use std. magazines if they already had them before the ban.
Since this is the situation , are quality handguns ( ON AND OFF ROSTER) that were orignally designed to use magazines with 10 rds or less more popular in Caifornia?Comment

If you have a H&K VP9 and a 15 round magazine, can you be in trouble of having a high cap magazine? Obviously, the VP9 did not exist prior to 2014 or so, so the 15 round mag did not exist prior to that time. And, the high cap magazine law went into effect way before that.Comment

Yes, You are correct. You could not say that You had 15rd VP9 magaiznes before the year 2000.If you have a H&K VP9 and a 15 round magazine, can you be in trouble of having a high cap magazine? the part of the question i don't really understand is the reasoning behind wanting a gun that was designed for mags holding 10 or less rounds?
if i was buying a gun strictly to resell, i'd want to make sure i am getting the highest return possible. so if a gun comes stock with a 15 round mag, but would net me $500 more than i paid and another comes with a 10 round mag and would only net me $300, i'd buy the one that nets me $500 and buy a blocked mag to include in the sale.
if i was buying a gun to keep, i don't think i'd want to limit myself to guns designed to hold 10 rounds or less. i'd pick the gun i want based on all factors, not just guns that are only available with lower capacity magazines. in fact, i think i'd prefer guns that have the ability to easily accept higher capacity mags so i could have more fun in the event i ever take the gun to a free state...my Benitez goes to 11Comment

Forget resell . If You are not exempt and buying a pistol to keep/carry/shoot.( Here in California. )the part of the question i don't really understand is the reasoning behind wanting a gun that was designed for mags holding 10 or less rounds?

Would You prefer: Glock 26 over GLock 19? P7M8 over P7M13? HK45 over Glock 21? Single stack 1911 over double stack 1911? Sig P225 over SIg P229? etc.Comment

AP, the premise is to avoid CA tomfoolery with the design of the firearm or components, correct? You're asking for pistols that function they way they were designed. You are asking for off-roster to avoid the LCI/MDC since you mentioned the CA butchering, however the pre-LCI/MDC pistols grandfathered from the lists are acceptable?
If that is correct, then I understood the logic behind the initial question.
Other than the single stack varieties, you're pretty much limited to the sub-combact designs if that is the case. Any of the small bore, double stack compacts and above will hold over 10 rounds for sure. Some of the subs in 9mm will hold over 10 when their .40/.357 Sig variants naturally hold 10 i.e. Sig P224.Comment
