Tetra Grease--No matter how thinly it's spread out it still feels slick.

My favorite; best stuff on stainless you can buy to prevent galling. Just don't use it on plastic/polymer parts. They even say something to that effect as well. It can "brittle" certain plastics. For that I use Pro-Shot Pro-Gold.

MILSPEC BACON GREASE. ITS WHAT NAVY SEALS USE BRO....And I am a SEAL so I would know....
Anyway, i use to use white lithium but it doesnt last as long and will dry out leaving a powder behind. So now I use Red Crimson Valvoline grease, stays put with heat and doesnt leak out.

For lubrication, there are a number of very good greases available to the shooter, and they all do a good job.

If you're cleaning and storing your guns, I highly recommend using RIG, by Birchwood Casey. It is a calcium sulfonate complex grease, which means it's designed to prevent rust. To that end, it has never failed me. Some guns are stored years between shooting sessions. Each gun's barrel is lubed with a greased patch and the exteriors are wiped with a grease impregnated rag after being handled. I've used it for over 50 years and have never had a spot of rust on any firearm that I've owned. Give it a try.

P.S.: Remember to clean the gun's barrel and chamber with camping fuel or lighter fluid before using it.

+1 for Frog Lube. Doesn't stink, so no-one complains if I clean a piece on the living room table. Non-toxic. In case the household pet gets into it. Great CLP. Available at my local range/gun store. Easy to apply, easy to wipe down. I really don't care if it's expensive, and I'm a cheap SOB. It does the job, and keeps me out of trouble for "smelling up" this or that room in the house. After using all kinds of solvents and oils, this stuff is great. Although, someone mentioned Lucas Oil, and as a mechanic I was always a fan. It does make me wonder!

Want to guess what oil I use?

I notice that stuff comes in a large tube, presumably to be dispensed by something like a caulking gun. What do you use to get this stuff into a more manageable container?
