I can't believe some people are of such a child like mentality and have so much free time that they went back to delete "private" sales info from old sale posts they had made simply out of spite and anger over this thread.

Why do people delete the price when they have sold their pistol?

Asking price is valuable, just like the asking price of a house or car is valuable. It may be less valuable than the final sales price (which is the most valuable piece of information), but that doesn't mean it's automatically completely worthless information. And for off-roster firearms, where we have very little to work with, it's still very helpful.Comment

Last one or two 10mm handguns I sold or have attempted to sell were on CGN both were scarce off roster pistols and I did look on here for past asking and sale price ammo. I'm tired of the games and pettiness here that's why I care less and less about keeping guns in CA I've sold a nice off roster handgun or two through auction houses that I know left the state partly because of bs here.
I also was curious on selling prices of MR73 revolvers here a member was gracious enough to tell me via PM what his sold for. Info like that is hard to find.Comment

On a positive note, while I was reading up on how to write a script so I could save all the data for myself, I also used my free time to try setup something the community could access. You can google 'Wayback Machine' and you'll now be able to find older versions of threads, to find that removed price on posts after July 11th. It's not searchable, so you'll need to know the url of the post to retrieve it. It's not as functional as what I'll eventually have, but it's at least something that benefits someone other than me.
So, if they want to nuke all the threads, that's their decision. But at the end of the day, they're making their for sale advertisements available to everyone and everything on the internet. If it can be read, it can be saved.Last edited by devious21; 07-13-2015, 6:15 PM.Comment

In my experience, most people I've met through shooting and shooting sports, are some of the nicest and most helpful people, and I've tried to return the favor whenever possible. It really is sad to then come on here, which is the biggest online community for gun owners unfortunate enough to live in this great state, and see people care so little and just use it as an opportunity to troll the other members.Last edited by devious21; 07-13-2015, 7:49 PM.Comment

Devious21 will solve the problem of "overpriced" off list guns
I compared off-roster guns to Cuban Cigars. What part of that makes you think any of what's discussed in this thread would result in off-roster guns not being expensive in California?
The only thing we talked about that's close to that, is that I said buyers and sellers having access to pricing information will allow them to more accurately price their guns. Accurate doesn't mean the same price as the rest of the country. This is still California.
"Overpriced" meaning correctly valued high prices for the California Market and "Overpriced" meaning priced higher than the market will bear, are two different things, and you're confusing the two. Look up equivocation.Last edited by devious21; 07-13-2015, 7:18 PM.Comment

I saw your post in that thread and I'm not sure what you're talking about and I'm getting the sneaking suspicion you aren't either.

If a Glock 43 sells for $900, is that overpriced or expensive? If people line up all day to buy it at that price, it's not overpriced. It's just expensive.
Is that really that difficult to understand?Comment

Yeah that's understandable. If people here don't care about fostering a positive community for each other, why should people give a sh*t. The quality of the classifieds and the information and threads are only as good as the people here are willing to make it. Some just want to reap the benefits, while slowly making it worse.

Because I don't think that any of your arguments hold water -- and believe that leaving the asking price serves no useful purpose -- you use that as an indictment of my commitment to the CalGuns community, or my "helpfulness" in general? I just want to "reap the benefits" and make CalGuns worse? I'm just trolling?
Ok then...You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
Come on...what harm??

Ok then...
I have no problem with disagreement. It's a healthy part of discussion.Last edited by devious21; 07-13-2015, 7:46 PM.Comment
