Interesting! Which barrel? I'm using LoneWolf. Maybe I'll try a different brand next time.

The thinking there is the Glock was designed originally for the Austrian Army has a platform for their 9mm 124 grain FMJ service caliber. Later someone said everyone loves Glock lets add more calibers. In 1980 the 40 S&W did not exist but the Glock did.

Same thing with the 1911. It was designed for the 45 ACP 230 FMJ. But it does ok as a 38 Super, 10mm or even a 22 LR.

I agree. In the 1980s did you ever hear of a Glock kaBoom? NO! A 1st Gen G17 in Monrovia is documented as having 1,000,000 rounds down range.

          oooooo a glock 9? ....bluhhhhhh

that was my original thought about glock.... I was a sig guy, 1911 guy, anything but Glock...

I have owned a glock 19 for 11 months and have shot 3400 rounds through it...

my sig 40? and 1911? like 1500 rounds COMBINED this year...

if you do not have a 9mm... buy a a Glock 17 and you will be amazed at how affordable range trips are.

I have 9 Glocks now, although I did not consider myself a Glock person. I still don't shoot it much..

            Two 17 Gen4, two 19 gen 4, one 41 Gen 4, one 34 Gen 3, one 34 Gen 4, one 42, one 43.

Except Gen 3 Glock 34, all the other Glocks are unfired. I need to go to the range more often.

Damn when even Bill Wilson votes for 9mm... maybe it's time to reconsider my 6 .45's and zero 9mm's...

While I can't speak for timbo399, my thought pattern was parallel with his. I think he is recommending a 9mm in either the 17 or 19 and buy either one that fits the best.

For my somewhat small hands the 19 is a better fit. If one doesn't have pre-bans and your stuck with 10 rounders then I really don't see a capacity benefit.

Remember with Glocks you can only shoot jacketed ammo. The rifling will clog up with hardcast bullets and may cause the gun to explode.

^^^^ I have medium sized hands and I like the feel of the 21 in my hands.

The second comes from 25years of teaching LEOs and civilian shooters on Glocks and is mirrored by many of the top firearms instructors in America.

"the LEOs and civilian shooters performed at their best" doesn't really say anything about G17/G19 vs. G21/G30 one way or the other.

9mm all the way. Ammo is cheaper so you can get in more practise. Plus recoil is less.

My nightstand gun is a .45.. My reasoning is the subsonic ammo will be a little less punishing if I ever have to fire it indoors. I am sure it will still blow my ear drums out, hoping the adrenaline will negate the effect of that.

In general I have grown fond of 9mm, it is proven effective with modern loads.

Either will work.... You can't go wrong either way.

If you do go for the 21, I recommend the 21sf, I have a 21 and a 21sf and prefer the sf hands down to the regular 21.
