And don't want to hear the BS about price, 45acp is $22.00 and the 45gap was 24.00 around for FMJ and JHP $32ish for 45acp vs $35ish for 45gap. And easy to find. 3 diff LGS have them in stock and are less then 15mins from my house

Get the G30. It's the most essential .45 caliber known to man. And it's been proven, time and time again. Just trust me on this one.

          I've had both, sold both.
I actually had the frame break on the G21!( Glock did replace it for free)

I've ended up with a G19 which I actually prefer over the 17. The proportions work better for me, and still has a respectable capacity.

Like most responses, if you shoot often, 9mm is better on the budget. The G17 is a great gun. Don't know about the G21 so won't comment. Have both G26 and G30s. They are great. G26 is easier to conceal, the G30S fits my hand better and recoil is very manageable. I am also interested in the Shield S&W single stack. It's all preference. Glock's consistently go bang when the trigger is pulled. Any carry gun will work with correct training. Personally think training is more important than the gun.

I've had both.... i enjoyed shooting the 17 more than the 21sf. The 17 is the original, and it's the poster child for Glock. Personally, .45 makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside though. Can't go wrong with either choice, but I lean towards the 17.

There's not too many practical reasons to choose 45 over 9 these days.

But if you like 45 then go for it.

Ever since Federal has started pumping out that aluminum case, I've been able to get away with $14.97/box which is reasonable.

Also people say 45 is easy to reload if you plan to do that instead.

For a first handgun definitely go 9mm over 45. Recoil is more manageable. Cheaper ammo means more trigger time. Also the recoil of the 45 might turn you off on shooting as much.

I simply spent an extra C note got a rifled barrel; except for Glock matches where it is illegal. the stock one is still new: G21SF, gotta love it. but if it were my first it would have been a 9mm.

The second comes from 25years of teaching LEOs and civilian shooters on Glocks and is mirrored by many of the top firearms instructors in America. All Glocks are equally reliable, but the 9mm is the most "shootable" for the vast majority of new shooter assuming the OP is. Not to snappy in recoil (40), not to big of frame size (45).

Maybe you are just taking offense to my recommending a 9mm over a 45. Seems from your posts on this tread you are a 45 guy. I am, but it does not stop me from recommending a 9mm.
Stevo seems to be waging an online war against phantom Glock "fanbois" by putting words into other people's mouths. It is indeed tiresome.

OP, I am a huge fan of Glocks in 9mm. I find they shoot an array of different bullet types and weights surprisingly well, especially if loaded long. While I enjoy my 21sf, I much prefer shooting .45 out of a 1911 or a 220. Just my two cents.

I have both but I enjoy shooting .45 ACP a lot more. If you decide on the G21, you should get the 21SF unless you have huge hands. Yes 9mm is cheaper to shoot but you can get pretty good prices on .45 ACP ammo too.
