the g38 is comparable in size to the 19.

One of the main reasons I got my G30 Gen 4 is the 10+1 capacity in a compact with the intention of buying a 30s upper for a slimmer profile to carry. I've been home carrying in a leather iwb holster and it really isn't too bulky. I want a G26 down the line.

For smaller hands there's the Glock 21 sf (.45) Same everything except the frame is a bit slimmer.

If you can only have 10 rounds then get the 10 biggest ones.

Plus there are companies that can slim the G21 frame down.

The question isn't, "which one?" The question is, "which one first?"

And only you can decide that. What do you like better, what do you shoot better, which is cheaper, which has better ballistics, etc. And only you can decide this for yourself.

Coming from a guy who loves to shoot .45, simply because I have a lot og 1911's, if it were me buying my first handgun for range and also possible HD I would go with Glock 17 or 19, whichever fits your hand better.

Great first gun and more than adequate for HD w modern JHP rounds. Just my opinion thinking if I were in your position right now.

                      Only between the two, 9mm.

                      But I'd go .40.

The best caliber/firearm is the one you have your hands on during a bad situation.

                        I have the 21, 20, 34, and 17 but I chose the 19 for carry.

As far as cost of ammo between .45 and 9mm, yes certainly 9mm is cheaper and I don't reload and love shooting my 1911's- I see buying ammo as I buy my guns- don't look back after purchasing. Wait for deals on bulk federal or magtech .45 230 gr for the range and have enough to last me for quite a long time. Yes I would have saved a bit on 9mm but gotta love that large .45!

I carry a 9mm pistol (SIG P226 or M&P Shield) with RA9T ammo. It will do the job.

Side note: Glock 26 or Glock 30 for carry?

                              Thanks
Glocks were designed first and for most as a 9mm. They perform at their best as a 9mm.

So you are saying that Glocks are less reliable in calibers other then 9mm? Not a fanboi but I find this pretty hard to believe. Examples please.
