a bullet should always leave the barrel. if it's OAL is off, powder amount is too low, bullet is oversized flash hole too dirty, bad primer...etc then it won't. but that's not the guns fault, bottom line is, it's bad ammo.

No. LAX is the kind of range that has a sign posted saying all spent brass belongs to the range. My guess is that is how they get the brass for reloads otherwise why would they care if you picked up your own brass??
What the manager did in taking the brass out and rulling that it was not from the reload is just funny. There is nothing he could have deducted from looking at that brass.
All that said and not trying to be insensetive to the OP but this is 100% user error and if anyone comes up with any compensation it would be mighty nice of them. It is like I sell you a rethreaded tire for cheaper than new. You drive out and get a flat but keep driving till you ruin the rim completely. Is it the tires fault that the rim got ruined??? No, it could have happened with a new tire just the same. It is you the operator that should have been savy enough to recognize a flat tire and/or a squib in the case of a reloaded .45 acp round.
Looking at original pictures of that barrel's muzzle and the amount of shiny lead smear, it screemed squib.
It happens, accept it as your own mistake or lack of skills without blaming anyone.

Instead of screwing around with them, I would be talking to a lawyer in the firearms field, such as Michel & Associates. They can give you the lowdown on the extent of your rights in this.

I didn't have the same problem, but my original CZ SAO had issues with the chamber being to short, causing not just my reloads, but a few brands of factory ammo to shoot out of battery and blow the casings and causing case/head separations.OP I'm glad your ok and hope your gun gets taken care of by somebody.
Here is a curious question for everybody, the XD seems to be a very stout handgun, looking at the pics of the aftermath.
Just wondering how other manufactures such as Glock, HK, CZ and others would handle this same scenario.
Anyone have any info or pics of other guns with squib loads.
After sending it back, and a couple months of phone tag (CZ at the time had a really hard time getting a steady shipment of firearms), they ended up upgrading me to a SP01 Tactical.Sandstorm Custom Rifle Slings : Custom Paracord slings

Winchester had recalled some double charged ammunition last year that caused major gun damage.

Also if your gun is out of battery and you pull the trigger you can cause major gun damage

I'm glad I am not the only one who thinks that.

OP did you read your manual? Did you see this in the XD manual
If your shot sounds weak or underpowered, it could
mean a bullet is in the chamber/bore. The gun should
be immediately unloaded and the chamber/bore
checked for obstructions before refiringOld or reloaded ammunition may cause damage to
the firearm and/or injure you or others. Use
only clean, dry, original, high-quality, commercially
manufactured ammunition. Using reloaded
ammunition may void the warranty.Comment

Definitely a squib, not only bad reloads, but I agree with the others major user error. That is why I reload my own rounds. i have had squibs from factory ammo, (Winchester). Your first shot did it eject the casing? If it didn't, did you pull back slide and see empty casing? If so that should of been a sign to stop shooting especially if there was no felt recoil? Hopefully you were not hurt. I agree with the others Springfield will know the cause and say it was the ammo. Good luck and hopefully LAX takes care of you. I just read your original thread, it sounds like you had 2 squibs then, shot a 3rd which blew the gun up. If you are not sure that the round went off, eject the casing, if no projectile then run a brass rod or wood dowel down barrel to check for obstructions. Hopefully you can avoid this in the future.Last edited by TATER313; 02-21-2015, 10:01 PM.Comment

LAX is NOT "other people" they are licensed to sell reloads.
You are right about not shooting other peoples reloads, as I don't share my reloads, for the same reason.
LAX has sold MILLIONS of rounds and this happens to even experienced big named manufactures.
I don't think this is a cronic problem with LAX and am guilty of shooting their reloads on rare occasions.
One thing I never do is shoot their .45acp. Extremely lite loads as I'm sure all their reloads are.Comment

Buying online is a great option. I purchase from MunireUSA. They have great deals on ammo all the time. Also Freedom munitions except they don't ship to the city of Los Angeles.
I agree. Their ammo is expensive and they pull the bait and switch on you by advertising cheap reloads online and selling them at much steep price in the store. When you ask them about the online pricing, they get really defensive and outright rude.Comment
