Great to see people express opinions on what is going on - those upset by what they see in the pricing are certainly not "whiners".

I am sure those people working to fight the CA Roster, 30-day per and 10-day wait laws are "whiners" too, right?

These posts are amusing usually people without the foresight/means to buy what they wanted but expect those that took the time and energy to track down SSE guns to sell it to them for cheap.

Once again I'm asking to be "gouged" and i'm offering 900 or so for a P07 2014. No sellers... =(

OP, like other hobbies there is a sense of community here on Calguns. There is also people taking advantage of a situation that they planned for ahead of time. I dont hate them but I wouldnt offer to let them shoot my toys at the range either.

One one side you have the people claiming gouging and profiteering, on the other side you have the folks saying its just economics. Their is some truth to both arguments.

I had to sell some guns to pay taxes in 2013. I was going to try to get what I paid because they were basically new. I asked the collective knowledge about a price and one member here said, "How are you going to feel selling your Ar's for X and seeing them resold for XX 10 days later?" I would be pissed and sold them for marked value at that time. I sold because I needed the money ASAP, not because I bought them to make a profit.

This thread brought up an interesting question; at what point does a person become an unlicensed dealer? Im using the example someone mentioned earlier of the FFL who said they have a client whose every family member is buying a VP9(?) monthly. It would seem they are diving into some murky water.

I'd like to know just how long I need to keep a gun before I can try to sell it for more than I paid?

I paid $250 for an off roster Ruger Security Six in 1987. If I try to sell it for $350 today, will I be seen as a gouging profiteer?

If the going price of a used car can vary from location to location, why can't gun values do the same thing?

Why would you be pissed??? You needed money asap so sold them cheaper for a fast sale... People are scouring calguns for those types of posts just TO resale. To be mad at someone else for your own decision making is absurd. That would be your own fault for not doing the price research like the rest of the whiners in this thread

Not sure if you're serious. If you are, I suggest reading Thomas Sowell's Basic Economics. The first part of the book has a section why explaining "gouging" (there's really no such thing) is good.

Yup, it's good reading for everyone, especially the ones complaining about gouging. You'll always find someone who will pay premium prices. Quit whining. Buy or don't....

This. I am constantly amazed how many here don't follow events. Except if one was paying attention, one didn't have a 7 month head start, one had a 2 year head start.

And if you don't think DeLeon is coming back with his ammo bill, this time as president of the senate, you have another thing coming. Next time it may get out of committee and to the governor's desk. Will Brown sign it? Dunno, maybe. But he'll keep coming back and most assuredly Newsome will.

To clarify, I would be pissed at myself for being a shmuck by thinking I helping out another enthusiast only to see them resold for twice the price. I did do my price research and sold for market value in the end.

I hate profiteering! By the way I will be posting 2 or 3 off roster hard to come by handguns in the sales forum soon and I will be asking for as many American dollars as possible. Everything is a bargain on a long enough time frame.
