Other reliable firearms are on roster and available for national prices. If someone is willing to pay more, obviously it is worth it to them and here's the thing: PEOPLE ARE HAPPY TO PAY IT TO GET THE GUNS THEY WANT! These "Gougers" have done the people of CA a favor by bringing thousands of awesome firearms in that would have otherwise been completely unavailable or even more highly priced due to even less supply. If someone offered you $600K for the house that you paid $200K for 20 years ago, would you tell them that you don't want $600K because you paid less and you can buy the same house in Texas for $150K? Value is based on what someone is willing to pay, and nothing else.

Anyone who thinks the democrats didn't consider and anticipate the economic effects of the roster is a fool!

Hahaha, oh man...I remember THAT. The Recycler or the Register....bought more than a few guns from them.

Finding something that's off-roster that I would like to pickup & it being priced above what I'd like to pay doesn't equate price gouging to me. Supply & demand. This is America, although CA barely qualifies. It's a free market. Something is worth what another is willing to pay for it. If you want a SIG 938 that, in another state, would cost $750, & someone wants $1k for it, you can either pay that or not buy that gun. I anxiously await either: the roster being ruled unconstitutional (which it clearly is), OR the SCOTUS upholding the recent ruling in the 5th Circuit in TX striking down the Federal law against interstate handgun purchases. If that Federal law goes away, then we can all just drive to NV, OR, or AZ & buy whatever we want, roster be damned

I'll bet the same pissers and moaners are the ones that said "oh, I'll never do SSE... I don't want them coming knocking at MY door!". Live with it then, enjoy your loaded cartridge indicator. Ohhhh you don't like that and you want to buy MY gun? Well, glad you asked because I have a BNIB Gen 4 G19 in full FDE. I paid about $700 OTD for it. I'll sell it to any one of you for $1,700. I'm not gouging anyone, you don't need the gun like someone in a hurricane needs plywood or water and to be honest I don't need your $1,700. Even then, you should have prepared yourself, you live in hurricane country, or in our case anti-gun country. You saw AB1964 coming with what a 7 month head start? Guys in hurricanes only get about a week's notice.

Anyone want to buy some green tip ammo? Ohhh I get it, you didn't stock up on ammo and had no idea Obama's gubment would try and ban something. After all, we have a government that is here to serve the people's best interest right?

Go shoot your Gen 3 and shut up. Don't worry, they'll never try to ban your 9mm 115g FMJ so no sense in stocking up on that when you can just wait until it does happen and the price goes through the roof again. The good thing is you'll have something else to ***** about.
This. I am constantly amazed how many here don't follow events. Except if one was paying attention, one didn't have a 7 month head start, one had a 2 year head start.

And if you don't think DeLeon is coming back with his ammo bill, this time as president of the senate, you have another thing coming. Next time it may get out of committee and to the governor's desk. Will Brown sign it? Dunno, maybe. But he'll keep coming back and most assuredly Newsome will.

But most won't prepare, they'll be buying flat screens and rims, and these boards will then be flooded with complaints about gougers and "I can't find 9mm anywhere."

OP, as a newbie i suggest that the first thing you learn is how to use the search function. This topic has been discussed so many times, you're just beating a dead horse.

I don't think the 5th Circuit decision helps us at all because it definitively left state laws intact. So even if you broke no federal law buying a gun in AZ, you would violate California law importing it into the state.
our best bet is the Pena decision in the next year (hopefully) and then the 10 years of appeals. Pretty depressing.

Are people this whiny when they go to the grocery store? Milk is $4 a gallon? Why can't it be $2? You're gouging me!!!

While we are at it, maybe they can sell me a house on Malibu beach. But I'm not paying a cent over $200k. I don't want to be gouged!!!!

Did any of you actually read the OP's post? He's not whining about it. He's just asking if there is anything going on with prices besides good ol' fashioned profiteering.

^^^^ the words "profiteering" and "gouging" are pejorative. the use of such words indicates the OP had an agenda by starting this thread.

                        he wasn't just asking anything.

                        he's trolling.

I feel bad for the other Californians who don't have parents out of state or have peace officer friends. I can literally get any off roster gun I want, but the only gun I'm waiting for is the compact VP9.

If you are really friends with LEOs, you will NEVER ask them to buy an off roster firearm and then sell it to you. Many have lost their jobs making straw purchases and dealing firearms without a license doing that.

Laws against murder and attempted murder should have been the only gun control laws ever needed in America...

Yup, pretty much all there is to say. If you don't want to pay extra for a gun you can't buy except through private party transfer, don't. Someone else will.
