As the weather finally starts to cool down and away from shorts and tank tops, how are you changing your CCW habits.

Are you moving from a IWB to OWB holster?

Are carrying a larger or heavier weapon?

Will you carry in a vest, coat or jacket designed for CCW?

Probably keep carrying XDs IWB at 3 o'clock in a kydex holster. I almost never wear a jacket even during the winter. It's California after all.

Sometimes I wear a 3/4 sleeve light pullover golf shell over my typical polo shirt or tee.

GlockN'Roll the answer to your question is yes. As I add layers I want to move my gun outside the waistband. Simply put, less to foul the draw, more comfortable and less likely I will have some garment fouling the action if I have to shoot from retention.

Also fact is that I just started carrying a concealed carry soft shell jacket for winter and love it. I can carry the larger gun and two spare mags in the jacket without printing and good access well at the same time carrying my smaller gun IWB if I want to. Because

Originally picked up the jacket for a customer to wear well riding his motorcycle, and because he is in the firearms business the semi tactical look works for him.

The ability to move OWB with a cover garment is handy too.

My EDC is a S&W M&P Full Size .40 and the jacket handles it really well. And since it's ambidextrous it really has the ability to carry 4 mags, not that I feel I need that many.

I'm not currently carrying because I haven't received my CCW yet from my IA but years back I carried in Tennessee. My only real change was going from IWB to OWB in the same 3 to 4 carry position. Or if running a light coat or zipper hoodie I might go shoulder holster just for ease of tossing it on and off.

Obviously the key to anything different than what your used to, is training and practice. if your going to have to transfer a weapon from say outwear to IWB then you need to think that through in advance.
