Paper, my understanding is they had a card style first but some knucklehead ruined that as I understand.

Still waiting to hear back on proceed to training but it's only been about a month since my livescan and application submission so I'm not worried about it.

I do have a quesiton you guys might be able to help me out on though.....I'd like to change one of the guns that I listed on my application. To do that what's required? I'm somewhat familar with the process once your permit is issued but since I'm still in process could it be as simple as revising the info when I go down to present my proof of training? Thoughts?

So I dropped off my application on June 9 and also did the live scan the same day. I'm at around 5 months of waiting for snail mail to get approval? Is 5 months normal.

Close enough for me! Good to see Solano back at the top...how's everyone progressing?
Again, congratulatiins. You have your permit, that what counts. I guess you choose not to include the 3 months you sat waiting for an appointment. It really is part of the process time

                Thanks!
Agreed, there were those long 3 months of waiting to turn in the application that can be added. Felt similar to the wait after live scan. All and all I'm really happy with how it progressed.
Newair - I thank you also for sharing your experience of the process and some of your past history. You're personal experience helped me finally make the decision to apply.

I sent Kellie a email her, this is her response.

"There is no problem . DOJ did not return their eligibility letter on your file until last week. Your file is pending review and you will receive written notification once that review is complete.

I have recently transferred out of the CCW unit. All future CCW correspondence should be sent to Deputy Pinder at solanoccw@solanocounty.com or 707-784-7498."

                    CCW process update

As you folks have found out Kellie took an assignment elsewhere and Deputy Pinder is taking her work load on. The Sheriff is using extra help when possible and they are exploring solutions. I am not expecting any delay from the Sheriff's office as DOJ is still the giant slow part of the process.

One of the instant solutions is the "Proceed to training" letters are now being emailed out. If you are in the 4 to 5 month window since live-scan then I recommend you check your email and spam box. There was a very large number of emails sent out this week and I would expect training providers to have some back log.

I don't visit here often so If you have specific questions feel free to contact me through my web site www.brcarms.com

For the fella who wants to add/change a firearm while in the application process. You can change/add a gun registered to you at any time before the permit is issued. What ends up on your permit is what you have qualified with. It can be a different firearm than what you have listed on your application.

Can someone please remind me of how long the completed training certificate is good for? TIA

Fyi, I talked to the sheriff tonight and he said they have about 1,900 ccw's currently issued in Solano county. I have been curious what the number is for a bit now, and it is good to hear so many have been issued. Thanks Sheriff!

Does Solano now issue for SD=GC or do they still have a higher requirement?

I haven't heard of a change to SD qualifying as you GC, but they will issue with a decent GC statement.

Does anyone know the population of Solano County? Just curious.

2015 estimated population for Solano County was ~436, 092 with ~327,069 being over 21 (and thus being eligible to apply for a CCW)

Click the link to "CCW Map and Table on Calguns" in my sig for more info. The table breaks down each county by the best numbers available.
