Does CA require a specific course of fire for qualification? Is it published publicly somewhere?

Like back when I had a NV CCW, it was a very specific course of fire required. Ever since NV had reciprocity with AZ/UT permits, I haven't had to renew in NV, which is nice, since their requirements were a little more cumbersome (in-person class and course of fire required).



As soon as someone hits 90+ days and if they are still stalled in the process, Chuck Michel's office better get moving.

FYSA, my interview was 13 April and my application still shows stalled like everyone else.

In-person class was at their facility on Campbell Ave, San Jose. Shooting was at Sunnyvale rod and gun (range may change based on availability?)

I am guessing since their main business is security training and CCW is kind of like a side business for them, they just cobbled together a half-assed website with the most basic information. 🤷*♂️

I finally got an email for scheduling my psych eval! 2 weeks and 1 day from my interview at the Sheriff's Office.

Hope that helps people waiting. My email was titled:

If you are stuck waiting for your psych exam appointment, search your inboxes and junk mail for the sender "LEPS". This is who the psych exam invite comes from. I actually missed mine for a few weeks until I did that search. They only email once!

Hi all - if anyone has any questions about the CCW training, feel free to send us a direct message and we'd be happy to answer them. Some vendors want OWB holsters and what not, but we run our training to be as realistic to what you will be doing in real life as possible. Most people will carry IWB holsters covered by a tshirt/ sweatshirt/ jacket, etc. In our training, that is exactly what you should be wearing so we can teach you how to be safe and efficient while doing it. If you're looking to get an early start on that training, we do offer dry fire practice classes that include proper drawing from concealment, etc. Send us a message if you have any questions! In the same boat - April 19th interview and crickets since. Given that SCSO never embraced issuing CCWs, I'm not holding my breath for prompt turnaround. Heard they have 90 days to deny or move forward.

It appears that the Capt who was administrating the CCW permit process had a death in the family. The sheriff is in the process of assigning a replacement
