It is a little slow. My psyche interview was on 04/28. Got a text to get live scan on 05/04. I have also received my final approval today. Waiting for them to get back to me regarding pick up date.

pardon my dumb question: did you fill out the psyche survey thing? I think the interviewer told me that the result will only be sent after the survey is finished.

yes. i sent it. twice (one typing in "Santa Clara County" and other "Santa Clara County Sheriff") just so nothing goes wrong.

zero response so far. Emailed twice. No response. Called - no one picks up mail box full.

funny thing is, with SJPD, they do livescan first before pysche. I've completed it on 3/10 and followed up multiple times with the officer. Response is below as of 5/17 (2 months later!!!)
"Looks like we are waiting on some background information from outside agencies and will also be contacting your references soon." (none of my references reported any call)

So yea...both agencies have stalled any progress. Wonder if I need to seek any legal counsel at this point.

I contacted the Michel firm in March or April and the response I got was "unless they actually deny your application, there is nothing much to be done".

Per NYSRPA v Bruen from the Supreme Court opinion. Page 36
"That said, because any permitting scheme can be put toward abusive ends, we do not rule out constitutional challenges to shall-issue regimes where, for example, lengthy wait times in processing license applications or exorbitant fees deny ordinary citizens their right to public carry."

I think there has to be some challenge regarding "lengthy wait times". It probably just needs to be defined. What if they keep your application in limbo forever?

IIRC, by law, they have 90 days from your interview date to decide whether to approve or deny the application? In practice, I don't know if it is ever enforced. But still, there is likely no legal basis for any challenge in the 90-day window. Back then when I remember that LASD sometimes takes 1 year+ and no complaint has been filed, it was not a good feeling.

No Issues. SJPD provided the livescan form, completed at UPS. Below is my SJPD timeline for reference. Note: they won't accept my SCC LEPS results.
