I figure Ill share my modification Journey
      Qualified 07/25
      Submitted Modification 07/25
      Approval on 08/01

Although you are required to keep the old style with you (it is still issued) this is what the Credit Card Style ones look like which they are now issuing Image link below

I will say it would be nice if they had used something other than a webcam to take my picture but I immediately got the clue when I heard the lady say "That's good enough for Government work"

Are you still required to carry the paper with the id?

If by paper , you mean the old style which was a piece of paper folded in half and laminated, then yes you do have to still carry that. At least from what I understand, the lady said to me whenever you're asked you're going to pull out the credit card style looking one because everybody knows and will accept it , but I need to keep the other one safe. I questioned what she meant by safe if that meant I could keep it at home and she didn't really give me at direct answer but said if they want to see it I need to show it, so I can only interpret that I need to keep it on my person However, from what I understand there is some kind of nonsense between the DOJ and issuing agencies about what is approved and is not approved officially. I've seen the same thing in other counties with my friends permits, however just in previous years. I know the lady who handed me my permit doesn't know what every single LEO in the state is going to want on the side of the road or what they are going to interpret about what is official or not official?

When I picked mine up, I was told they both have to be in your possession at all times when carrying.

Yeah, I suppose that's what she was telling me, but it seemed like she wasn't being very direct on the answer and using words that implied a choice in the matter. It is a little bit dumb to have to carry both, however, "Rules is Rules" and I don't want them to take away what they choose to call a privilege and I feel is actually a right so I do always carry both.

I was told they both have to be in your possession or the new style card isn’t valid. This was as of yesterday @ 3:30pm. Strange requirement but a minor inconvenience for the privilege to carry anywhere in the state.

                        Hey CG,

I had a question that maybe someone could answer. I've looked at the San Joaquin Sherriff's site and couldn't find an answer..

I used to live in Coco County and follow the ccw thread on CG up until now. Someone brought up a point about modifications on your carry pistols and mentioned that there are certain things not allowed depending on the county you were assigned your permit.

Does San Joaquin County have a "not allowed" list as far as modifications on your carry pistol? (Flash light, trigger shoe / trigger upgrade, red dot optics, stipple/frame work, etc)

                        Thanks in advance.

Not that I know of. I have never seen anything about it and I have never been asked about modifications.

San Joaquin used to have restrictions, but currently any legal modification is allowed.

Source to this information? I would love to get rid of this m&p shield trigger.

I'm a San Joaquin CCW instructor. I queried SJSO about this change back in March and they confirmed it had changed.
