If the US 1st amendment were treated like the 2nd amendment by US politicians, we will need a license to speak in public, need a background check to buy a book, and can only buy one every 30 days. UPDATE:
Initial Interview: 8 Dec, 2014
First Contact: 16 Oct, 2015
Sergeant on the line confirmed vital information including work and residential history, any new law enforcement contact, military history (in my case), and confirmed reason for applying for CCW. No trick questions, quite professional.
Interestingly enough, of the three pistols I had listed on my application, two of which were purchased around the holidays, 2014, one did not come up as registered under my name, nor any listed history by serial number. I have to ping the shop that sold and DROSed it to get the appropriate paperwork routed properly. The deputy gave me the option of leaving it on and suspending paperwork until the issue was fixed, or removing the weapon from the app sent up to the sheriff, and adding it back on later. I chose the latter for expediency.
Also, he did not ask about workplace weapons policy, but that might come up later as part of additional requested documentation. He said I might expect a decision in a couple of weeks.
Here's hoping for a speedy remaining process. It's about damn time, too!
UPDATE: The store that I purchased the weapon in question from confirms that the DROS and associated paperwork were received by CADoJ, but when I picked it up, the clerk responsible never clicked the "delivered" button. So, the gun is mine, and shows as registered to me, but according to CADoJ it's still at the store and therefore does not show on the deputy's searches. This is being fixed now.Last edited by joshB exCorps; 10-16-2015, 12:21 PM.Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.

As I suspected, the standard workplace-weapons-policy question came up, but as an e-mailed afterthought.

Is anyone else seeing these two very old posts at the bottom of the forum? Does anyone know the admin so we can get rid of these?

So I'm still in the waiting pool but I was wondering if anyone knew what I should do if I want to change one of my weapons on my carry list. Is there a number I can call or do I have to go in? If anyone can help I will be much appreciated

Make sure that the guns you qualify with when you take your CCW class are the guns that you want to have on your permit. The guns you qualify with are the ones that they will list on your permit, regardless of what guns you listed on your application. But they will need to run a check on the guns you want to list on your permit to make sure they are registered to you, so let the investigator who calls you know which guns you are switching.
I would suggest calling the Professional Standards Division at (209) 468-4342 to make sure this is correct.Anchors Aweigh

I did this a couple days ago... They told me to just hang on to the info and to just wait for the investigator to call. They will ask if anything has changed and you can inform them then. I wanted to add an additional firearm since I only listed 2.
Someone I know who has their permit said that the ones listed aren't all that important since they will type up the permit with the weapons you qualified, although I believe they will do a quick check to make sure the weapons are actually in your name.Comment
