What is the live fire qualification the put you through? I imagine it’s the same for all certified training.

It varies from instructor to instructor.

            Here are the requirements.

Here is the new requirement. Each applicant needs to hit the target 80% of the time which equals 24 rounds:

            5 rounds at 1.5 yards
            5 rounds at 3 yards
            10 rounds at 5 yards
            5 rounds at 7 yards
            5 rounds at 10 yards

That's right, thanks. New 2019 law kicked in with these guidelines. This represents the minimum that's required by the state. I bet the qualifications will still vary from some instructors. Like the place in Sac who includes off hand shooting.

Actually several instructors I called all said the same requirements. However, the one I took there was many people from Stanislaus County and they only do 18 rounds but have to get 100% but don't go as far back. We had to qualify separately.

Interesting, thanks for the feedback. I know that the Stanislaus CCW holders now need to qualify with every firearms on their permit. Before they just needed to qualify with a single firearm.

Correct, same for us. Qualify with each firearm. Stanislaus also uploads their certificate online and gets their permit also instead of having to make a appointment and go in.

They also had to do two headshots but was really close as well as non dominate hand as well. Seemed their qualify was easier than ours. But even our qualify is easy really.

Okay, small rant ahead. I turned in all my paperwork for renewal 90 days ago and still have not been notified that my renewal is good to go. I did receive a call from the investigator on the 9th but then silence. Nothing has changed in two years but after today I cannot legally carry concealed.

I would not think a no-change renewal would present any kind of problem.

                        rant off.......

I also put in my renewal paperwork 3 months ahead of time. They were going over applications according to the month your ccw expires so they didn't get to mine until after it had expired in February. Went without ccw for about 3 weeks. Plus the new Sheriff was a bit behind since just starting in January.

Well, that is very frustrating! If they say to renew 90 days ahead of time, they need to make it happen in that window.

When I recently picked up my permit I was told to call 4 months in advance to make a renewal appointment. They said it usually takes 3 months but to call in 4 to make sure there is no overlap.

When I called they told me three months. I will do four next time.
