This is good info. Maybe we should start a CCW FAQ for San Joaquin County.

I'll start and feel free to add/edit

    1. Is "Self Defense" an acceptable good cause for San Joaquin County CCW?
    Answer: Yes.

    2. What are the fees?
Answer: After the interview, $19 application fee and $120 live scan finger printing are due. $76 is due when picking up the approved CCW license. Acceptable forms of payments: Personal check, money order payable to the San Joaquin County Sheriff. Cash is accepted for the exact amount.

    3. How many pistols can I list on my application?
    Answer: Up to three.

    4. Can I list on my application my off-California Roster pistols that were purchased using the Single Shot Exemption (SSE)?
    Answer: Yes.

    5. Can my wife and I share the same pistol on the application/permit?
Answer: One pistol is allowed to be shared between husband/wife, provided the pistol is registered under either the husband or wife's name.

    6. What is the current priority date on CCW application processing/approvals?
Answer: As of October 2014, the San Joaquin County Sheriff is processing and approving applications submitted in April/May 2014.

(Maybe we can append this list to the 1st post when completed)

    10/20/2014 Interview

Had my interview yesterday and all seemed to go smoothly (fingers crossed) even given my "less than stellar" youth.

Was told 4-5 months for answer by interviewer AND finger printer.
Was told my wife can list one of my pistols on her CCW, assuming of course, it's registered to me.
Was told that weapons on permit can be SSE.
    Good luck to you all.

April fool. I wonder if we had the same investigator? This blows. Waiting 170 days to get turned down based on the inconsistent application of unwritten policy...

    Thanks mbz dr.

I received an email from my investigator after 1 week of phone calls that my "application was submitted." I don't have very good feelings about that update, he didn't specify approved or denied, I just don't feel good about it.

I was denied before when the sheriff did not accept self defense as good cause and got a letter in the mail explaining that I was denied for lack of good cause only. I think the denial process still by mail.unless someone can confirm that it changed .
