Seeing as they were pretty clear on the instructions they sent me I had my checkbook with me and had no issues.

If you bring cash make sure it is exact change as they don't have a register and don't usually have cash on hand.

Also, there were 4 other people picking up their Licenses while I was there. One guy was from 4/12, one from 4/28 and I didn't talk to the other 2.

On the topic of withholding information. Let me say that the less you say the better off you will be. Answer all questions on the application fully, but do not mention community involvement, do not give a bunch of reasons that you want the permit, you are better off just saying "self defense" or something along those lines. The less you give them to question you about, the better you are. Whatever you say, do not have protecting property as one of your reasons or anything that would involve you intervening if you witness a crime being committed. Even if you believe that you should intervene, when you are being questioned, your job is to be a good witness and leave the police work up to the LEO's.

Additionally, if Moore asks you to come in to meet with him, be very respectful, say as little as possible and just stick to the fact that you want this to defend yourself. Additionally, do not make comments about how this person or that investigator or staff member thinks you should get it or that you should have gotten it when you applied a few years back. If you challenge him at all or indicate that someone else thinks his decisions are or were out of line, he will deny you just to show he can. He has a Napoleon complex and is a megalomaniac. He does not like being challenged or second guessed.
Thank you for clearing it up, looked a little off at first but after pms were sent I realized it wasn't, sorry to hear about the denial

I'll start and feel free to add/edit

    1. Is "Self Defense" an acceptable good cause for San Joaquin County CCW?
    Answer: Yes.

    2. What are the fees?
Answer: After the interview, $19 application fee and $120 ( THE DEPARTMENT WEBSITE LISTS, AND I PAID $128) live scan finger printing are due. $76 is due when picking up the approved CCW license. Acceptable forms of payments: Personal check, money order payable to the San Joaquin County Sheriff. Cash is accepted for the exact amount.

    3. How many pistols can I list on my application?
    Answer: Up to three.

    4. Can I list on my application my off-California Roster pistols that were purchased using the Single Shot Exemption (SSE)?
    Answer: Yes.

    5. Can my wife and I share the same pistol on the application/permit?
Answer: One pistol is allowed to be shared between husband/wife, provided the pistol is registered under either the husband or wife's name. (I DIDN'T HEAR THE INTERVIEWER SAY THAT THERE WAS A LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF GUNS SHARED??)

    6. What is the current priority date on CCW application processing/approvals?
Answer: As of October 2014, the San Joaquin County Sheriff is processing and approving applications submitted in April/May 2014.

(Maybe we can append this list to the 1st post when completed)
    See clarifications in red above
I do not believe that he meant that there was a limit of one weapon shared total. I think he meant that spouses can share one weapons as in the same weapon. This could be done with three weapons.

Yes calls I received from the SCSD came up on caller ID as blocked. My approval call came at 8:20 in the morning. I was working swing shift and still sleeping so don't usually answer calls that early but wasn't going to miss that one.

Why not share the denial reason here then so we can all learn. Or a photo of the denial letter so we know what to look for.

I do apologize it just looked suspicious with the name and join date and how you were acting

For your list of items in SJ County...I was told that you can share all 3 weapons with a spouse on your permits, if needed.
