I had my interview today. They said they had 24 interviews scheduled for today alone. Everyone was friendly and professional, and the entire process was very positive. They made it clear, though, that they are extremely backed up, that they are currently issuing about 6 months after the interview dates, and that there was no telling how long it would take at this point.

I made a copy of the application that I turned in but there is no need to copy your DL or any other documentation that you are bringing. They have a copy machine.

    ***UPDATE***

Just received an email from my investigator, he has been assigned elsewhere. He says that if... "you have not heard anything, you are still in the running. You at least know you are not disqualified." He also says... "it could be that the Sheriff has not been able to sign, or wants to meet with you."

That is good news (I guess), unless I hear I'm disqualified.

For those following along: Application date 4/30. First contact 10/09. Last Contact 10/27. Until the email response today.

Howdy Gunners. I am a recent transplant to San Joaquin County. I spent the majority of my life in Sacramento County. I received my first CCW under former Sheriff John McGinness shortly before his exit from office. I worked street corner signs & flyers for the current sheriff Scott Jones during his campaign. I am sure many of you are aware of the success C.G.F./ 2A had with Sacramento County. We are now seeing the success of other wins they have had come to San Joaquin County. I challenge & remind all of us to continue being good ambassadors & role models for our cause. I spent some good time with SJSD yesterday. They have good people working to accommodate all of us. It is not a perfect system by any means but the Sheriff Volunteers, Investigators & Admin staff are working diligently for us.

Call your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers & anyone else you may know & let them know its time put your application in for a CCW.

    New to the Forum --

Called SJSO for a CCW appointment yesterday. Appointment set for Dec 8th.
Here goes nothing...and here's hoping that they've beefed up their CCW/BI staff.
    I'll keep the thread posted.

Thanks. I just moved to San Joaquin County from Stanislaus County. I called and got an appointment for February 9th. They called me yesterday and moved the appointment up to next week.

For example, has your life or property been threatened or jeopardized? Explain incidents and include dates, times, locations, and names of police agencies to which these incidents were reported."

Are people still just writing "self defense" in this section? And if so, are the investigators asking follow up questions seeking specific (versus general) need?

Damn it's 2:50 and I can't make it there on time today

Have to wait till next Tues.

Initial app/interview date: 4/16. Investigator follow up call on : 11/13

No residence check and only one question from the investigator about which guns I wanted on my permit.

3 guns on permit, one is SSE.
    Congrats!

I had a follow up call last week. I'm crossing my fingers that next week I will get my call...

That should do it for the April 16ers, right?
