Interviewed August 25. No contact yet, but based on everything I see here, I would expect to be contacted around end of June. Waiting patiently...

My buddy had his initial interview/application drop off on July 2nd. He finally received a call from the investigator on Thursday of last week to ask for his employers firearm policy.

That's just short of 11 months from application to first call from investigator.

Eh, they were all related and all victims appeared to be very specific targets for gang ties. The Subway robbery gone bad was scary, but they arrested the suspect today. Stockton is no playground, but not a lot of the violence seems to bleed over into normal citizens.

I also can't comment on self defense still being accepted. Mine was self defense but I also added the ISIS threat and that I sometimes carry large amounts of mobility gear including body armor and night vision.

Just wanted to let people know that they are still being approved.

Was this that last time we heard about anyone being approved? I realize that not everyone that is applying is online here on this thread, but that's a month of nothing! :-/

What I still can't understand is what other. County service or permit would we wait 8 to 11 months for . This is not to attack the people.
working in the office . My contact with at application turn in and at permit pick up they are working hard There needs to be more resources applied to this problem. Again would you wait this long for building permit or marriage license

I got my marriage license in 20 min, I can see a lawsuit coming, but at the same time it would be a lot easier for him to change his views

I have to think More is a smart man and since he has started to issue permits under self defense as good cause . There has not been any problems with CCW permit holders report by the media. People have taken the right and respondsabiity to conceal carry seriously as
                          they should.
It has also cause people to take note of how political the permit proceses was in the past in some counties. And to stop issuing now or revoce the ones he has issued now would bring a lot of negative attention .

Problem is the state caps the amount of money that can be charged to process. That amount isn't enough to process quick enough or add staff. I would be happy to pay a grand and get it done sooner

Not to beat up on a point but maybe the S.O.Standard for background is to high . If you purchase a handgun in this state you already have to pass a written test and criminal check and it all canbe done in 10 days .

The test takes 15 minutes and the background check is supposed to be instant(unlike California, in most states it takes less than 20 minutes). The ten days is state mandated BS.

I believe SJSO is doing an in depth background check, which takes more time than checking the NICS or PFEC system for red flags. It shouldn't take 9-10 months though.
