No, no range, nor classes completed by me. I wrote SBCSD CCW and they just said to wait for the application approval???? This is sooooo different since they subbed out the county to a private entity. Can I just go and get my classes and range card completed. Route 66, the Riverside indoor/outdoor range does both classes and range... This sucks, Self serve!

Your renewal will NOT be processed until you do the range and class time. You can use any of the approved training sites.

Renewal Applications:
A part of the online application submission, you will be required to schedule an appointment for an 8-hour training course.
If you plan on adding a weapon to your permit, you may do so during this time. Per new California Department of Justice law implemented, you will be required to re-qualify with all firearms on your permit. There will be an additional fee paid directly at the range.- ALL renewal applicants must use a training vendor from the linked list: CLICK HERE
RENEWAL appointments are no longer required. We will process orders on a first come first serve basis. Failure to upload all required documents during your submission will result in delays in the processing of your application.

Is it still recommended to apply 180 days before expiration? My last renewal, my permit expired 4/20/24. I applied 6 months before, got my permit in February and had an expiration of 2/20/26, lost 2 months on my permit -_- Has anyone had this issue?Originally Posted By CTbuilder1 @ arfcom:

Any fees charged will be the responsibility of the applicant and such fees shall not exceed $150.00 for an initial test. I was wondering on what your take is on this PDF I found on the SBCSD CCW website. If I remember correctly, the range folks repeated this to us during the re-qual class. It pretty much says that CCW holders will not need to follow the SB2 sensitive area lists due to the injunction. Every other sites covering SB2 say these are all still in full effect. Am I misinterpreting this part?I am confused.CCW permit holders will not be subjected to enforcement of the following subdivisions of Penal Code Section 26230:
Per SBCSD:
On December 20, 2023, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California issued a preliminary injunction, which prohibits the enforcement of SB 2 provisions that restricted the carrying of concealed weapons in some of the areas deemed as “sensitive places.” While the court order is effective, CCW permit holders will not be subjected to enforcement of the following subdivisions of Penal Code Section 26230:
• (7) Hospitals, mental health facilities, nursing homes, medical offices, urgent care facilities, and other places where medical services are customarily provided, • (8) Public transportation,
• (9) Establishments where intoxicating liquor is sold for consumption on the premises,
• (10) Public gatherings and special events,
• (11) Playgrounds and private youth centers,
•(12) Parks and athletic facilities,
• (13) Department of Parks and Recreation and Department of Fish and Wildlife property, except hunting areas,
• (15) Casinos and gambling establishments,
• (16) Stadiums and arenas,
• (17) Public libraries,
• (19) Amusement parks,
• (20) Zoos and museums,
• (22) Churches, synagogues, mosques, and other places of worship,
• (23) Financial institutions, and
• (26) Any other privately owned commercial establishment that is open to the public, unless the operator clearly and conspicuously posts a sign indicating that license holders are permitted to carry firearms on the property, • And “parking areas.”

Old age might be kicking in but I seem to remember the opposite. Maybe a email to the CCW unit or to the Sheriff?I was wondering on what your take is on this PDF I found on the SBCSD CCW website. Which is #9 on my copy paste of the pdf document found on the Sheriff's website. Yeah, maybe I need to ask them for some clarification on what thisactually meansWhile the court order is effective, CCW permit holders will not be subjected to enforcement of the following subdivisions of Penal Code Section 26230:"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. That letter is out dated.
Here is the most up to date, you really can't carry anywhere TBH. I am only renewing once more to see how this plays out in court. If it's not resolved in two years I'll let the permit go, such a waste of time and money IMO.Last edited by superhondaz50; 08-27-2025, 10:33 PM.Originally Posted By CTbuilder1 @ arfcom:

The PDF references Penal Code Section 26230 and the December 20, 2023 injunction. How many injunctions have there been?"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
