Welp, tomorrow my CCW expires. USPS informed delivery does not show my new card waiting for me today.

I wrote Brittney on June 21st, she replied on the 23rd that they are running "a little behind", with over 500 permits that need to be processed. She wrote that I would get a notice when my permit is approved. So, tomorrow morning, I will need to make a decision.................. Last time I was without my little friend for a few days due to the CCW computer system crash. I wonder how long it will be this time. Kinda bummed.

ETA: Checked this morning, progress bar has now changed to:
Assigned to Processor / Processing Order
Finally I an seeing some movement!

07-08-2025: Got the "Approved" message today. Now just waiting on USPS, which could take a week or so from Devore.
07-17-2025: Card was in the mail today.

I was wondering if it ever arrived. When you edit a post there isn't a notice/message about a new post.

Not you! I was in the same spot the last two renewals. The hack got me the first time.

Has anyone moved out of state with and active permit and changed their address to the OOS address? Trying to see how SB handles that now that out of state folks can apply.

You must be a resident of San Bernardino County, per their website, at least to get a resident permit.
Out of state folks that apply probably get a permit that notes that it is an OOS permit. I can't find anything on their website on converting a resident permit to a non-resident permit. A call or email would be a good idea.
                  • Be a full-time resident of San Bernardino County
                  • Must have valid identification
                  • Be at least 21 years old
                  • Own and have a gun registered in California
                  • Not have any open criminal cases or pending citations
                  • Not have any felony convictions or specified misdemeanors per Penal Code Sections 29900-29905
                  • Not be on active probation

Ya, I'll email them to see what they say, just curious in case I move.

Your CCW becomes void if you move outside of SB County. I doubt they have a procedure in place to switch you to a Non-Res CCW.

Before you claim the license becomes void, you need to read CA Pen. Code section 26210. Pursuant to subsection (c) the license cannot be revoked simply because the person moved from SB County. And pursuant to subsection (d), the license will remain valid for 90 days. Now that SB County can and must issue licenses to out of state residents, it would appear that all they would need to do is process a change of address, the same as if the person moved to a different location in SB County.

I got an email back from SBCSD. If you move out of state, you surrender your license, and have to start the entire application process over as a non resident.

I don't need to read anything. Thirty plus years of CCW stories experiences. They will void the CCW of you move out of the issuing agencies area.
The CCW was issued based on being a RESIDENT of SB County. You move, you reapply. The same as if you move from SB to say Riverside.

I received the exact same thing @ 500 applications. I was so use to the SBCSD sending snail mail reminders for renewal. I didn't get one. My CCW expired Aug 1st. Did the online deal, paid online July 22nd and the bar graft shows "Pending assigning to a processor shortly" in yellow. What should i expect next?

Renewal letters stopped several years ago. Have you done your range/class? Nothing much will happen till you submit that.
