I wonder if they are cashing the money orders? Since I was not given a receipt, that would be the only way I can prove that I had dropped off my renewal package before my expiration date. This whole thing has got me worried.

Ouch, yeah that?s rough. I?d be worried too.

Perhaps you should send an email to their main email account with the date/time of drop off, amount, who you gave it to (if you remember), and ask for confirmation of receipt. At least you have something in writing even if they don?t respond.

I could try that, but I am hearing that they may not be responding to email at this time. I guess their computer system is really fubar. I will just have to wait. I'm sure I am not the only one.

After qualification, you are given a range card to attach to your application. At least that is how they are handling renewals. Basically a paper system, no computer required.

They still have to use a computer to run your firearms and DOJ records.

Probably not for renewals with no change in handguns. For new folks or those changing their handguns, yes. But I am not sure what parts of their system is broke. They may still have the ability to run your guns through the DOJ check, that might be outside their system. I don't know........

From everything I am seeing/hearing they are just stacking up paperwork and processing nothing.

They clearly don?t care. I would say that applies more to SBC Sheriff?s leadership than the admin staff actually doing the processing.

There are thousands of computers in the state that can handle the DOJ electronic comms, SBC SD simply won?t do anything but their ?standard? process. No accountability.

I?m reaching out to attorneys because malware aside, this is unconstitutional and simply unacceptable. Perhaps one of the 2A groups might be able to lend a hand with litigation.
