I'll echo that. I was there yesterday as well.
All around great experience. I was impressed with how well they handled so many of us! I'm grateful for the retired volunteers who helped make the day possible.

Also, I appreciate and respect Sheriff McMahon for taking the time to meet with us.

    Well done, SBSD!

One thing that really surprised me about the CCW class was, we were told that our CCW permit is only good in California no matter what you read about reciprocity online. No other states recognize California permit and California doesn't recognize other permits. Has anyone else been told that?

Either you misunderstood the instructor or they are giving out misinformation.

Hey guys. My permit expires mid November and I want to get the renewal paperwork submitted. I noticed that it mentioned do not fill out sections 6, 7 & 8. Is that correct? I thought I filled out those sections when I first applied. Sorry, but didn't look back at previous posts if the answer is there. Thanks.

Yep. That's exactly what he said.
I remember thinking it's just like teaching credentials. California doesn't play well with others!

Incorrect. Www.uscca.com is a good reference as to where our CA CCW's are valid. Go under resources then reciprocity map...

IMO the deputy that held the class is being cautious or is relaying this information from the higher ups. I think its for our protection seeing that California has no reciprocity with any other state that we may be treated unfairly. It's a "do at your own risk" situation so proceed with caution.

There is an app that I use and some ccw instructors recommend for reciprocity and it's CCW by workman consulting. It well worth the $1.99. Use at your own risk of course.

Give them a call to confirm.

Mid November? Get rolling... you should have been standing at the counter with your paperwork mid-August.

Quick question as I'm inquiring for a buddy that lives up in Barstow who's thinking of applying for his CCW. What is the approximate time from submission of application to permit in hand from SBCSD?
