Even with COVID, that is faster than the year after the San Bernardino rampage.

SBSD staff are working diligently to keep things going and are doing a great job.

Hang in there. Once you get your permit, you'll look back and think it was all worth it.

Really have to give them respect for getting things done as timely as they are with everything this damn Covid has thrown at them and at us.
Shut downs, short staff, sick staff, DOJ backlogs, you name it they just keep at it!!!

Looks like they are a few months out for interviews. Got mine confirmed for September. I am the biggest procrastinator. Should have done it months ago.

but what's the process like for adding a gun onto your permit? Does SB allow that or would i have to wait until my permit renews?

I have my initial interview scheduled for august but have been tossing around the idea of picking up a .38 snubbie. just not sure if i should push to get it before the interview or if i can wait and put it on my permit mid term, per say

No, gun modifications are only done at the time of renewal.
