At range qualification, someone brought a 10+ round mag that was discovered during weapon inspection. The range officer announced he could be arrested. Not sure if actual outcome (whether it was returned, confiscated, if applicant was allowed to proceed or was cited or arrested).Comment

I wouldn't argue too much with them if it was a new gun.
If it was an old gun that I've had for a while I would tell them that and remind them that the law outlawing all high cap magazines is on hold pending a legal challenge to the law.
Regardless of what they think no one should be arrested as the crime of possession of high cap magazines is an infraction and only punishable by a fine.At range qualification, someone brought a 10+ round mag that was discovered during weapon inspection. Had my interview with SBSD this morning. All went smoothly.
On my application I used, "personal protection" for my good cause statement, which the interviewing investigator chuckled at. He then informed me I needed a little more than just, "personal protection." I mentioned AB 109 and that was all I needed.
My timeline thus far:
Applied 07/11/2018.
Interviewed 07/17/2018.

SD/PP is all they require for good cause.
BUT! They want more than 2 words listed as good cause. It really isn't that hard for you to come up with three or four sentences for your good cause statement.

I read back to January 2017 on this thread and I only came across a single post that specifically mentioned them wanting more than simply, "personal protection" (or "self defense") on the application, which I happened to find AFTER I had already submitted the application.

It's been mentioned a few times in the thread, but not constantly, so it does tend to get buried in the discussion. Basically, AB109, Prop 47 and 57 are all good bases to work from.- Rich

It was probably around late 2016 that they started wanting more than just the basics, but I'm not sure that "personal protection" alone has ever been enough... they simply wanted the words used in a sentence

All that SHOULD be needed is "I would like", but sadly, we live in a may-issue state, so the paperwork needs something a little more.- Rich

I forget exactly what I wrote since it was a while ago... but it was something to the effect (affect?) of self defense because of all the damned criminals and tweakers they are letting out of jail early.
Guy going over my form read what I wrote and didn't ask for anything more.
(I didn't write it like that... I was more polite about it! hahaha!)
Nobody asked me anything about anything I wrote, actually.... I guess I did a good job filling out the forms?Guns and diamonds are a girl's best friends!Comment

Anything that is legal for transport is fine.
I put all of mine in a locked range bag.
Keep in mind that you will walk out to the line with EVERYTHING you bring, shoot, and leave without returning to the bench, so a single bag with your guns, mags, and ammo is smart.
Also smart to bring extra mags... pre-load all but one with 5 rounds each. The one empty mag will be used for inspection.- Rich

So take one piece of Tupperware that holds 3 guns.
You need to transport your weapons in a manner which complies with state law.
If you're comfortable using the set up you described then go for it.
