but long story short i will take your advice and carry factory produced ammo, i will more than likely dismantle a factory round and replicate its components and load characteristics for range practice though until i find a factory load i am proficient with. then continue to use my copycat ammo for practice.

Just a thought.

I think the most widely used bullet for HD/SD is the Hornady XTP. You might want to find a factory load with this bullet that works well for you and try to replicate that one.

craziness!! exactly my thought the xtp projectiles are sold literally everywhere i buy reload supplys ive even used them for 250 or so rounds so far, now to find some factory ones.... thanks.

I only mentioned it because it's exactly what I was planning on doing.

I too hate to practice with $1+ ammo. Though I'll need to find two calibers; 380 and 9mm.

yeah oc reloading off the 57 and katella the dude who owns it is awesome! super helpful, keeps everything super well stocked i cant say anything bad about the place. but in all honesty ive never gone anywhere but there and online....lol.

ok so another question which i thought i knew the answer to but seen something strange in the market place.
so im looking to buy an lc9 and and xds 9 3.3in with the intention of putting them on my permit but obviously both are off roster, the guy selling the Springfield said hes selling it because he cant put it on his permit because its off roster, i thought you could but it had to be in original configuration, ie: cant buy an lc380 and convert it to 9mm it must be transfered as a 9mm.

Different IA's have different regulations. Ventura county says on roster or C&R only.

San Bernardino county is OK with off roster so long as they are not listed as single shot and calibre matches.

yeah i used to do that but some of my guns act totally different with fmj's vs Jhp's plus i hate shooting a buck a round down the barrell for practice!! lol at least all my carry/handguns are 9mm so not too harsh on the wallet.
totally off topic and im sorry but if your gonna start reloading check out the hornady ammo plant on amazon 1200 bucks for a progressive press with case and bullet feeders great for pumping out plinking ammo. i still use a single stage for HD ammo and some rifle even 9mm hd. but the hornady can pump out some 500-600 rnds an hour once shes dialed.

oh it does.....and other things i won't mention here!! lol. But in all honesty 1200 is very very cheap for a progressive press with automatic bullet and case feeder system. dillion would be nearly double that for the same features if not more.....

Yes.

No trigger pull less than 3lbs.

They do encourage trigger work that will make you more accurate.

Don't remove any factory safeties.

And strongly recommend that any work be performed by a qualified smith.

Obviously, maintenance parts and procedures such as replacement of the recoil spring and field or detail stripping would not be an issue.
Trigger job, ramp polishing... Ya, leave that to a pro.

I removed the LCI on my Shield nothing was said, and my trigger is 4lb nothing was said.

Guy in front of me was 3.5lb and was denied.

Guy next to me got the comment "Seems a little light", he replied that it was "a little over 3" and was allowed to continue with it.

But I agree... anything near 3 is approaching "competition" level work and not "carry" level work.

During my class they said that when we renew we will need to elaborate on our GC. Simple couple sentances. They had everyone in class elaborate on our GC out loud.
