Captain Marhoefer is a great guy, honestly believes in what he is doing, and is very active with the AVGC including teaching NRA classes there.

You are going to really enjoy the class.

Dress warm and in layers. It's cold up there in the morning and the classroom is freezing until about 9 or 9:30, then the heat starts blasting.

Mentioned before but I like to bump it...

Waze users may navigate to "SBSD AVGC CCW"
That will take you directly to the front door of the classroom.
"Apple Valley Gun Club" will get you to the clubhouse on the far side of the range.

I think you are confused on this. There is a section where you, the applicant sign and state proof of training. This can be an AZ approved class of some sort (NRA, CCW, etc) or proof like an acceptable out of state permit, current or expired.

The instructor certification section at the bottom of the back page is not used anymore except by a couple of instrs still licensed via our old process or via POST (I "think"). At our classes for example, you receive a printed, signed certificate that you send with your application as proof of training. Unless an instr has an actual AZ instr number they don't sign the actual application.

The code is ARS 13-3112 google it and section N has all the qualifing classes or exceptions.

Under 13-3112, an NRA, POST or other recognised instr CAN provide a certificate of training. Example, an NRA Basic Pistol works. As does hunter safety. Your CA CCW class should work, IF they give you a certificate OR other proof of completion.

You may want to double check this with DPS at: asdps.gov - call them. I'm pretty sure my info above is correct, but I am not 100% sure how non AZ courses are handled as I don't really encounter it much.

Not that I doubt the poster, but we have seen this comment a number of times over the last year, yet it doesn't seem to be a problem for anyone. I'm thinking perhaps there is one or two interviewers who are looking for more than 2 words.
During my class they said that when we renew we will need to elaborate on our GC. Simple couple sentances. They had everyone in class elaborate on our GC out loud.

Mine was I have 2 children and a wife to protect we often go rv'ing in remote locations. Also if we are seeing bad guys attack police officers on TV on almost dailey basis what keeps them from attacking me our my family.

I believe new applicants need to do this on their app.

I put the homeless population as well as the transients is large due to it being a rail way town. Also I work late hours and use the gym in the middle of the night..

Another question about the Firearm Form. What do you put on each top line since Serial Number, Make, Model and Caliber are all listed below? Should I just put the description including Make, Model and Caliber? Or put Semi-Auto Pistol?

still havent got my range date but its only been a month or so post interview. Just had a question and statement to make/ask. I interviewed in October and although my reason was essentially self defense i did elaborate highlighting terrorist attacks, hate group activity and stuff along those lines, the deputy said that was sufficient. My question is: im hearing you guys saying bring "factory ammo" so i gotta buy a box of ammo? i cant bring my reloads? no biggie gotta do what i gotta do, but i typically buy a couple thousand factory rounds every two years when my brass supply gets low then reload from there once its used. With our new bs backrounds for ammo i should probably buy a box or 3 before that goes into effect?

Do not use reloads for conceal carry ever, they actually discuss this very thing in class. It's a very bad idea.

For the gc I also used AB 109 and prop 47 as GC. Even the deputy told me "yeah we're not happy about those". The new Prop 57 is another reason

is this for court case type situation? "you made super extra deadly rounds that super extra over stopped the armed threat" if thats the case thats incredibly dumb. I buy all match grade components and even trickle charge my powder for my home defense nighstand hollow points. I trust my ammo 1000 times more than most factory garbage. i used to use remington home defense store bought stuff until i was loading a mag one day and 4 out of 10 of the projectiles pushed into the casings like they were never crimped!!! plus with ca's new law they leave me no choice but to make my own. im not gonna give this dictatorship 35 bucks a year for them to screw me even more for obeying their over reaching laws for the last 10 years.
