Does anyone know if any of the "right people" have communicated with Sheriff Jones about his (rather flagrant) policy of denial by delay?Proud CGN Contributor

What is the success rate and what are they issuing denials for? I have nothing criminal on my record, had some beefs when I was a teen but never been convicted of anything. I would just like to know what there being non tolerant on.You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.Comment

Odds are with you if you are not on the list of prohibited persons. Scanning through this thread here, there is a high success rate or people are not reporting their denials.Comment

Area of Residence means residing in the County of Sacramento, correct? Last I checked, as long as you were a resident of Sacramento County, you could apply anywhere from within the County of Sacramento.Comment

Thanks Gene, that is actually a very comforting statement! I just went thru the whole process, and it was smoother than expected, though expensive & time consuming as we all know or assume! I do not have any felonies nor misdemeanors of my entire past save for traffic violations, and not DUI's. FYI here are some situations that were approved in our group of applicants:
-One guy in our CCW training class did admit to teen drug use, and he still made it, so they are not 'binary' with respect to considering good character and a clean record over the past decade or greater.
-Another guy had a DUI on his record from 6 yrs 11 months prior, and Amber actually old him that they would wait to submit his application for 4 weeks until 7 years was up, and then he'd be accepted. There was a little delay, but they made good on their word, and he was approved.
So, there is some leniency, and I feel that there are quite a few of the people in the Sac Sheriff's office that are working as much as their union will allow to get our papers shuffled & checked. It's just that we've overrun their system, and they need to play catch-up in a few areas!Comment

Here is a little bit about my experience. I went in on February 22 @ 11:45. Spent almost a full hour there. I checked in at the front, traded my ID for a visitor badge and showed I had a letter of intent. I got escorted up, where I met with the first officer and he went over my application, I filled out a few return envelopes and signed the pages needed. After I was done there, I went to another officer who was not so friendly. He seemed to have a little beef with me for some reason. I had a few fights as a teen in high school, just kids being kids and he was getting pissed when I could not tell him what they were over. I told him I am not doubting they happened but the reason they happened is beyond me. Kids will be kids and I am over and done with it. I did not even remember they happened until he brought it up. ( We had a school resource officer on campus so they is why there was a report of it ). They asked if I was a member of any clubs and I said NRA, they took a copy of my card and they also took copies of all my security certificates since I do armed security. I had applied to CDC a few years ago but it fell through when they went on budget cuts. He asked about that and I told him when they did budget cuts, I lost motivation and never re applied since it took me 2 years to even get a test date and physical.
After I got my *** chewed I went to a third detective to sign a notary so they could pull my packet from CDC. I have still not received a letter back yet but I know I am not alone so now its hurry up and wait time..You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.Comment

In this case, you're going to have to wait for CDCR to respond with the packet, then allow time for the County to review it. I don't know how long it takes for them to respond, but it is out of local control during that time.Comment

Yea I figured that. It is kinda stupid since I was never hired nor denied a position and I am not really sure how it even is relevant to obtaining a CCW. If the state thinks I am able to carry one on duty since I do Armed Security then I should be fine to carry one on my personal time.
