    Live Scan results

    Hey guys,

Just wondering what average wait times were for those of you who had your Live Scans performed. I know the SSD's website mentions 30-90 days, and I have read that some have gotten their results in just 3 days. My Live Scan was performed 2 weeks ago today, and I am still waiting on results from the FBI. Does anyone know if I could contact the FBI to see what is going on?

    Thanks in advance.

    Gus

SSD waits until they get some certified report from DOJ even though results are available electronically pretty quickly in most cases. Mine took a little over a couple of weeks and Bombmaster's took a month or two, IIRC. Most people are about two weeks or so.

The first step to obtaining a CCW in Sac. County is to schedule an appt with the Sac. County Sheriff's Dept. My appointment was back on March 17th, 2011, and everything went well. I asked how long it would be before I received a "yea" or a "nay" in the mail. The Detective said "around two weeks."

It's been almost three weeks now - I tried to call the phone number on the card the Detective gave me, and it says that their mailbox is full. So I can't even leave a message. Not sure what to do now - I have a bad feeling that my reply was lost in the mail (the local mailman mis-delivers mail all the time around here).

I was considering just going back down to the Sheriff's dept and checking at their front desk - what's the longest you've ever heard of it taking for this first step in obtaining a CCW in Sac. County? I haven't even gotten to the Live Scan portion yet...

The approval committee only meets once (sometimes twice) a month. Typically it's been in the middle of the month so if you went in on the 17th chances are you went in just after their Mid-March meeting. If you're lucky, there was one towards the end of March / beginning of April and you'll get on that one, if not then expect them to meet mid April. I'd give it a little bit more time. The step that really sucks waiting for is confirmation from your livescan, that usually will take 3-4 weeks.

Thanks! I didn't know that. I'll just wait a few more weeks, then.

I believe I got mine back in no longer than three weeks. You can always call the automated 'check your livescan status' number. (916) 227-4557

From their website: You will need the following information: (1) your date of birth; and (2) the 10-digit Automated Transaction Identifier (ATI) number that appears at the bottom of the Department of Justice form requesting Live Scan fingerprint background checks. The ATI number always appears in the following sequence: 1 LETTER; 3 NUMBERS; 3 LETTERS and 3 NUMBERS.

My final paperwork appt next week. Countdown till victory.. about two weeks!
Now I knew there was a reason I was a part of OpenCarry.org forum for three years with out ever actually OC'ing.. cause those guys over at calguns were hard at work!

Mine was one day short of two weeks.
                  Issuance appt was on Tuesday.
                  Permit should be here soon!

Thanks for all the information guys. Just called the automated Live Scan number and finally results are available. Now to wait another 2 weeks for the clearance letter from Amber. I must say this process is very time consuming, however, the SSD is handling the procedure appropriately by not handing out gun permits like they're candy. Training this weekend!

                      First Appointment

Wow. I got my first appointment scheduled for Nov. 3rd. I guess I'll be checking periodically to see if anything earlier opens up.

That would be awsome. I'm not planning on anything before next Tuesday though. Everyone I've talked to that has been through it says it has been exactly one week.
